Exceptional Nature-Inspired Winter Sports Resort: Barin Sky Resort by RYRA Studio Posted: 17 Apr 2011 04:12 AM PDT For those of you who love winter sports, we would like to present an extraordinary and inventive architectural ski resort: the Barin Sky Resort near Shemshak, Iran. Designed by RYRA Studio, the resort aimed to be a unique dialogue between nature and architecture. The inspiration came from the snow-covered landscape of the surroundings and the fluid lines of the mountains. The Igloo-like structure features skylights for a naturally lit atmosphere. Every room of the resort conveys a sense of glacial design: the walls and custom furniture merge in a contemporary interior design. Undulating lines forming layers are accentuated by pure white walls and furnishings. Here and there, splashes of colour create a stylish interior design, continued on the outside with a beehive inspired facade. The dome-like structure of each room creates a stunning impression, while the layered walls remind skiers of the joy and fun waiting for them outside. Ready for more amazing design ideas? Celebrating the Royal Wedding: Crowns and Coronets Wallpaper Posted: 17 Apr 2011 01:13 AM PDT Launched exclusively this spring in order to celebrate the “royal wedding” between Prince William & Catherine Middleton on April 29, Crowns and Coronets is a new wallpaper design featuring a “right Royal riot of regalia”. Produced by UK-based design company Graham & Brown, the wallpaper looks quite original and could go great in a classic environment. Here is more from the press release: “The opulent Crowns and Coronets wallpaper was designed specifically for this occasion and features black crowns and coronets on a white background and has the ability to be fully interactive. Use our self-adhesive 'Royal' jewels in a variety of colors to add the finishing touches to the wallpaper. Branches and Leaves Contemporary Sofa Design: Foliage by Patricia Urquiola Posted: 16 Apr 2011 08:18 AM PDT Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola designed a beautiful, nature inspired sofa, which she named “Foliage”. The sofa presented at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan was created by the designer for Italian manufacturer Kartell. Featuring a leaf-shaped motif, the Foliage Sofa extends its beauty to any room chosen for display. A thermoplatic frame resembling tree branches supports the seat made from polyurethane foam padding with a quilted elastic fabric covering. As described by Kartell: “Foliage is a sofa with great personality featuring a seat with top-stitched embroidery on four round legs. Cosy and soft, Foliage offers two roomy seats. The top-stitching runs over the entire surface and on the back too making the sofa a standalone piece that can be placed even in the centre of a room and seen from all sides.”Foliage by Patricia Urquiola is available in many colour combinations: red fabric – cream frame; cream fabric – acid green frame; green fabric – black frame; petrol blue fabric – hazelnut frame; sugar bag blue fabric – red frame; black fabric – cream frame; sand fabric – cream frame and acid green fabric – red frame.
