This was probably the idea behind this unusual design called The Mustard pillow and “equipped” with a flat decorative “spill”. Made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and cut manually, the pillow is a cool addition for anyone who enjoys a touch of color in an unconventional interior. The dimensions are 14″ x 22″ and the product is said to be quite heavy. In case you are not a huge mustard fan, Soy Sauce and Ketchup pillows with Spill are also available. You can purchase any of these models online at Etsy, for 8$ (if shipped to America or Canada) or 12$ ( if shipped “everywhere else”). Freshome readers, what is your opinion on these pillow designs? | Playful Interior Design and Original Renovated Features in a Bright Apartment Posted: 23 Mar 2011 04:34 AM PDT Located on Wadman Street, in the Lorensberg neighbourhood of Gotenberg, Sweden, this intriguing 55 sqm apartment is a delightful private space that can be rented from Alvhem. Situated in a neighbourhood with many features – beautiful architecture of the 1900s, nearby parks and museums, restaurants and terraces or BBQ facilities – the apartment is an urban escape to a customized lifestyle. White walls in the hallway draw the light from every window and the original wooden flooring was brightly painted to accentuate its beauty. A spacious walk-in closet can be reached from the hall and further on, the kitchen opens up to showcase its amazing features: white country style cabinets, stainless steel fittings and a classic oak countertop. A dining table that can accommodate 4 to 6 people was placed by one of the original walls painted in white. The 1920s feeling in the living room is accentuated by generously high ceilings, oak parquet and high skirting boards. The living room and a small bedroom are both brightened by colourful wallpaper.

Made from maple and glass, the furniture piece has a original organic look. Its asymmetry is truly charming and the the glass leg adds elegance. Here are a few words from the producers: “The wood has been maintain to uphold particular aspects and characteristics found within it. We have learned from experience that impossibility of guaranteeing the homogeneity of wood from one piece to the next. Much of the beauty that is found in one piece of wood is what facilitates the creation of each individual design. All wood has the potential to change with use and though time.” We believe that it is exactly this lack of homogeneity that ensures the attractiveness and magic of this design.

| How to Photograph your Staged Home for Sale Posted: 23 Mar 2011 12:54 AM PDT Years ago, it used to be to look at homes for sale you had to drive around town and look for "For Sale" signs, or you would ask a Realtor to look through their database of listings. Today, with the Internet, listings can be viewed easily and good pictures are what sells. Whether you are looking for a home in your neighborhood, or around the world, pictures are what are going to make homebuyers want to come see your home. In order to stage your home for great photography, look at these tips.
Selling your home can be a challenge, but with photographs, the job just became easier for you and potential homebuyers. Think about each room that you want to photograph and keep the number between 5-10 excellent images. While many sites have more or less, homebuyers want to be "wowed" within the first 3-4 images. If you have too many, you can drive people away, and less can have the same effect. Seek advice of a Realtor or professional architectural photographer for more advice on showcasing your home in its best light. Freshome readers are you in the process of selling your home? | Modern Residence Perfectly Adapted to Its Challenging Site: Point Piper House Posted: 22 Mar 2011 08:41 AM PDT
Architects Popov Bass Architects have completed the Point Piper House, a modern residence located in Sydney, Australia. The building site offered some major challenges for the architects. Stretching from the street edge 420 square meters East, the site in sot leveled, but drops vertically towards the harbor. Here is more on the project’s structure from the developers: “The client brief was for a three bedroom house with the living area at the lowest level to best utilize the outdoor garden space. As the entry to the dwelling was on the third story (at street level) it was necessary to design the building to provide a sense of arrival and to clearly define the unusual entry sequence. A four story void scallops out the building to unify all the levels and provides the sense of arrival at the top level. The void is expressed on the exterior of the building as a tapering blade that grows through the otherwise rectilinear building form. The primary views are to the north-east so that the entire house plan skews northwards to allow bedroom and living areas to enjoy this aspect to further animate the building form.” The interiors present unusual perspectives and a refined modern design. Have a look! (Photographs: Kraig Carlstrom)
