| Comfortable and Versatile Chair Made from Recycled Boat Sails Posted: 09 Feb 2011 07:20 AM PST Recycling has always been a fun activity but once you add creativity to a recycling idea, you get the Spinnaker, a classy and comfortable chair made from recycled boat sails. The chair is in trend with modern requirements of flexibility, functionality, comfort and design. A frame made from spring steel sustains the body of the chair and allows it to have flexibility and pliability. A cushion divided in three parts, each with a different degree of softness, ensures the right support for the body. The Spinnaker is adjustable and has a 360 degrees swing function, which allows multiple seating options. The cruising spinnaker sail served as inspiration for the design of the chair and the team even offers the opportunity to choose from a range of existing materials the perfect ones to construct your own chair. It was manufactured by the well known upholstery manufacturer, Hodnebo of Norway. The brief said “Create the relaxing feeling of sitting on a white cloud” and the design team managed to create a soft, comfortable product that can be enjoyed in any room of the house due to its modern appearance.

| Mind-Blowing Rental Villa Showcasing Sophisticated Interiors and Views Posted: 09 Feb 2011 05:36 AM PST A mind-blowing residence in Cabrera, Dominican Republic, steals your heart from the first minute you lay your eyes on it. Named Casa Kimball, the building features astounding panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean from all points of the building and garden. Having over 20,000 square feet, the property is actually a contemporary rental villa that can be enjoyed by everyone who pays from $3,000 to $5,000 per day, depending on the season. The sophisticated interiors are the perfect match for the incredible infinity pool and fresh breeze of the Ocean. Eight full suites are available for rent, each of them created for relaxation and fulfillment of dreams. Almond trees and coco palms surround the three acre property and offer the natural setting needed for a perfect vacation. Describing the property, the architects from Rangr Studio tell us their point of view: “The buildings are designed to protect from views of neighbouring villas, heightening the experience of the vast horizon beyond. The interior spaces merge with exterior spaces, all of which are designed to allow ocean breezes under shade from the sun, throughout the year. Light at sunset rakes through trees, casting dappled sunlight on the light stone floors in the evening. Rangr Studio designed the gigantic window/doors to pivot effortlessly on ball bearings, with very thin frames, made of a South-American hardwood as strong as steel. Two finishes of local coral stone make up much of the wall and floor finish.“

| Elegant Modular Lighting System: Link by Vibia Design Posted: 08 Feb 2011 10:33 PM PST Link was created by Vibia Design and stands for an interesting system that suggests “the daylight entering through a skylight”. This modular design provides an architectural dimension to the object and is adapted to spaces of varying size and geometry. The system consists of four modules of different sizes and depths that combine in unlimited ways and orientations. The modules are electrically connected together. Due to energy-saving lamps, they are suitable for illuminating work surfaces. Here is a description from the producers: Like the skyline of a great city… The modules of the Link lighting system allow you to create silhouettes and volumes on the ceiling to suit every room and every location. We salute the versatility of this elegant looking system which can be adapted to almost any type of modern interior.

| A Residence with an Ingenious Architecture: Airhole House in Japan Posted: 08 Feb 2011 10:49 AM PST Airhole House was designed by Masahiro Kinoshita from KINO architects, a Tokyo based architecture company. The unusual looking two-storey home is located in a residential area in Shiga, Japan and features large volumetric gaps in its structure which allow a good natural ventilation. Here is more information from the architects: the main form of the house was dictated by the shape of the site. On the street level, a covered parking spot is generated by carving out an airhole that opens up east to west. The main entrance is also provided through this space. More predominantly noticeable from the main street to the south is the asymmetrical roof line and terrace space on the second level. funneled in form, the open volume accommodates the outdoor veranda and the living/dining/kitchen area. the west wall offers storage while the pie-shaped space to the east houses the staircase, bathroom and washitsu (or Japanese-style room). | 4 Cool Letter Wallpapers for Imaginative Interiors Posted: 08 Feb 2011 08:17 AM PST We’ve noticed a trend lately that highlights on creative wall decorations (such as stickers or wallpapers) based on letters or words. In today’s post we bring you yet another similar idea, that we believe you will find interesting. These four designs below were developed by Wall& Deco- an Italian based company- and are intriguing to say the least. The first two would go great in a traditional interior, due to the color palette and the choice of fonts, but with a little creativity, they can also be integrated in a more contemporary arrangement. The last two ideas are a bit more sober and can be used in decorating a home office for example. All the models have the ability of bringing a plus of originality to their environment, which makes them a good alternative for wall painting. Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !
