Floating above a treasured entrance, a unique  rooftop infinity pool embellishes beautiful Tinos Island in Greece’s Cyclades archipelago. The largest of its kind, Tinos Island has recently become a focal point for architectural inspiration. Among the island’s derelict windmills and over 1000 artistic dovecotes, sculptors and painters have found inspiration and so did Athens-based studio Kois Associated Architects when creating the fascinating Mirage House.

The rocky hills defining this beautiful island’s topography were the inspiration for such an enticing project. Rugged terrain of unspoiled scenery lays as an invitation to explore living possibilities. Integrating the house into this picturesque landscape was the ultimate goal. The cavernous house ended up serving a higher inspiration purpose once the rimless infinity pool started reflecting the sun. One single level was enough for the owners and the 210 square meters offer a spacious collection of rooms.

An open air living room sits below the infinity pool, tying the Aegean Sea to daily life and seamlessly connecting it to the excavated interiors. Facing south over the Aegean Sea, this home was imagined as part of its surroundings, so locally sourced materials and the characteristic dry wall construction methods were used to achieve this. Thanks to the team’s creativity, the island’s unforgettable landscape will bear this unique rooftop infinity pool as proof of dreams coming true.

Going into the heart of the Apuseni Mountains in Romania feels like stepping into a fairytale land: baked apples, juice squeezed from fresh grapes, steamy bread just removed from the oven and seemingly enchanted summer evenings. Pasca’s kitchen is a blend of rustic and modern, delivering a unique experience. Some of the functional assets included in this project were a brick entrance patio, a large body refrigerator, generously-sized sink area, large traditional wood stove, ice machine, cellar and a brick bar. A contemporary effect was added by using color-changing lighting. Find the result appealing?

Our senses feed of what surrounds us and this charming kitchen- with its genuine look and abilities- completes a summer outdoor experience. Yellow Mellon 360° is composed of several modules, including a traditional smokehouse, cooking stove, iron cast barbecue, traditional wooden oven, a large work table with sink and built half round edges, functional in all four sides.

This lovely summer kitchen was perfectly integrated within a farmhouse estate located on a Danube island in Romania. Complete with a hunter’s table, a grill and and a wooden oven, the project sought to maximize the beauty of the location and deliver a tranquility zone for the owners.

A new Copenhagen restaurant recently opened its doors, welcoming international guests in a vivid space inspired by warm-blooded Latin culture and Scandinavian heritage. The basement-turned-fabulous-restaurant in Copenhagen shows how modern restaurant design composes a very inspiring niche. Copenhagen restaurant group Cofoco commissioned Jonas Hartz (of Hz), Jakob Lange (of BIG), and Lars Larsen (of Kilo) to create a stunning design for the opening of their new restaurant in the city. Llama – Restaurante Sudamericano was the name chosen to define this unique, exotic mixture of cultural heritage elements.

You see, modern restaurant design influences moods, dreams and senses. Someone might dream of a romantic dinner there, others might dream about opening their own restaurant, but all are under the magical spell of aromas, textures and colors.

This enticing mix of aromas places the restaurant’s menu on your “must try” list when visiting Copenhagen: “Llama is among the first restaurants in the region to draw on the flavors of the South American continent. Inspired by Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, and, moving a bit to the north, Mexico, the menu features ceviches, anticuchos, Uruguayan-style meats, tacos, and a list of South American spirits.

But Llama is without question rooted in the Nordic region and aims to thoughtfully and sensibly marry the South American inspiration with Scandinavian products and recipes.” Floors beautifully decorated with handcrafted Mexican cement tiles support the dark furniture, while a green wall livens up the whole establishment. Clustered around the pulsating heart – the bar – three different dining spaces were optimized for seating 180 people two times a night. The flamboyant restaurant was once a dark basement. Now it bursts with laughter and inspires others to follow their pulsating blood’s desire. “From an architectural point of view, I think we have created a remarkable transformation – the main idea of merging two cultures has turned an interpretation of a traditional Latin American vernacular into a contemporary Copenhagen public space.” says BIG Partner Jakob Lange.

Then it’s time for an inspiring make-over! The Esplanade East garden design project brought together Signature Landscapes and COS Design for the creation of a compact, modern and attractive back yard. Nestled in the heart of Port Melbourne, this “entertainers getaway” offers owners the possibility of enjoying their piece of the sky in complete privacy.

Blooming into an amazingly functional garden, design elements and carefully placed lights infuse the compact outdoor space with modern glamour. Here is what the landscape architects had to say about their completed project: “Maximizing space while still providing a highly functional outdoor room was the goal in this compact courtyard. This courtyard has an abundance of seating room, privacy screens, feature walls, BBQ area and a built in sun lounge. With well planned garden lighting, this courtyard can be enjoyed both as an entertaining area or as a visual feature from inside the house in the cooler months.”

The before and after photo looks almost ridiculous – who would have thought that a cramped, boring and neglected back yard can become the neighbor’s envy focus?
