Claramunt and M. de Mas. Offering a diffuse and uniform light distribution, the units come in a diameter ranging from 800 mm to 1200 mm, making them instantly noticeable. Some of the models are asymmetrical, providing a unique lighting experience.

Here is more information, as provided by the project developers: “The Plus Collection is an exercise in light and architecture that resonates the feeling of comforting daylight. The design adopts the form and function of a real skylight, simulating the sun’s rays filtering through an opening in the ceiling. The finish options and materials used in the fixture create the effect of soft architecture, having the appearance of seamless integration into the ceiling“. The lamps are available in matte white lacquer finish, though the whole fixture can be painted in the desired color to make it blend perfectly into the ceiling. Each design isequipped with dimmable ballasts so that light can be adjusted to different scenes.

Hypnotizing Cage Chair Flaunting Dutch Design: Cageling

Cageling by Ontwerpduo 1 Hypnotizing Cage Chair Flaunting Dutch Design: Cageling

Dutch design studio Ontwerpduo caught our attention with a wonderful display of creativity concentrated in a versatile cage chair. Their Cageling hanging chair provokes your perspective on bird cages while offering a comfy place to rest. “A birdcage large as life in which you can swing freely: dreaming away in your own space, without being isolated from your surroundings. Not captured, yet safe – and as free as a bird possibly can be.” Pretty cages are those we build ourselves. From inside the cage, you can safely watch the world fly by … while swinging back and forth. So moving doesn’t necessarily mean progress. But then again, the concept doesn’t stand in the way of you thinking about this while hanging in a cage chair on the porch. Daydreaming goes even deeper if you sit comfortably in the garden, suspended by a tree branch, birds chirping away…

Everybody's a bird, locked up in a pretty cage. Sometimes you fly to a slightly bigger one, but you never quite have the courage to abandon captivity completely.

— Dave McKean, Cages

They can make the cage chair in any color you wish, so the dream remains intact. The photographs captured by Lisa Klappe beamed me into a fairytale world created by Ontwerpduo. Ah, they have the most creative minds! You surely remember the Marbelous Dining Table which entices you to play while dining, be a child again, just like the swinging motion of this modern cage chair. Weatherproof coating adds a versatility plus – the Cageling looks and feels good both indoor and outdoor. I can just imagine it adorning my bedroom, hanging in my corner bow window. Can you picture a room in your home that would look amazing if the Cageling was suspended there?

Updating a 1930s Colonial House to a Unique Family Home

Avon Road Residence by BHDM 1 Updating a 1930s Colonial House to a Unique Family Home

We all want a unique home, a home like no other – one that incorporates our passions, pleasures and dreams. Uniqueness comes from the courage to speak your mind to the designer, to let them in on your little preoccupations so they can built you a dreamland. Imagining “a sense of theatricality and the unexpected” in each and every project, Manhattan-based design studio BHDM show us how colors and shapes can create that sense of well-being, the feeling of home. Partners Dan Mazzarini and Brian Humphrey of BHDM imagined a new life for this 1930's colonial house. Showcasing an array of functional transitional furnishings and a soft, monochromatic palette defining the overall appearance, the inviting Home on Avon Road seduces any guest invited while pampering the owners.  Avon Road Residence by BHDM 2 Updating a 1930s Colonial House to a Unique Family Home

Elegant prints induce an exotic atmosphere, whereas greenery fills the air with a naturally sophisticated presence. Cheerful colors were mixed into the elegant interior design, dotting the rooms with light and brightening everything up. This reminds me of how the design team used bold colors to give the cheery Miami Beach hotel an enticing glow, only this time boldness was used to punctuate, rather than define. French doors and large windows frame the green surroundings outside, flooding the interiors with natural light. Stark white in the kitchen seems to beg for freshly cut flowers, while strong colors seem to dominate in the children’s bedrooms.

Beautifully revived family house – here raising children comes to mind naturally.
