How does it feel to be the proud owner of a luxury villa in Brazil? We should ask Brazilian TV presenter Alex Lerner, he’s enjoying his fascinating home in Rio de Janeiro as we take a virtual tour via photos by G + SG fotografia de arquitectura. Imagined by Studio Arthur Casas (whom you might remember building the fabulous Baleia Condo residential complex) this home was built to serve the owner with a comfy, elegant and private heaven.

Evergreen vegetation surrounds this piece of heaven adorned with cumaru wood and vivid greenery. Two guest rooms and two more apartments for the maid and the gardener are situated on the lower level. On the third level, the master bedroom showcases framed panoramas of the ocean beyond the glass.

Clean design lines and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels make for a modern “shell” divided into social and private spaces. From the inside, all is open and inviting – a fusion of indoor and outdoor designed with utmost care. The spacious swimming pool was one of the owner’s requests. Also, the stone used to erect this luxury Brazilian villa has the same color as the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem – this was a special request that was put into play in a modern, attractive way.

Spreading over 5,200-square-feet, the home was set up on two levels with the main entrance located on the second level. Here, the living area extends out to the pool deck, gathering stunning panoramas of the surroundings. There are numerous places that exude a heavenly feeling. This is one of them, do you agree?

Do you take joy in going to the ophthalmologist? You just might after seeing this modern eye clinic imagined as a place of wonder, an adult’s version of an eye doctor’s fairyland. Carefully selecting materials and light details, creative minds of Sergey Estrin Architectural Studios captured the essence of eye care in a modern, hope-filled atmosphere inside this professional education center for vision care specialists.

Eye care professionals work in an environment that is not only visually delightful, but also warm and calming. A rounded Corian reception desk showcasing "lashes" of glowing acrylic glass is the focal point once you enter the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Institute Offices in Moscow. Copper walls define an otherwise sterile environment. Avoiding the “classical”, fearful use of white and replacing it with bright lights hidden in the design, architects enlivened the spaces. Bright colors and brand-related stylized dandelions appear as accents throughout.

From floor-to-ceiling, glowing glass inserts installed by NAYADA between the copper panels create the sense of a larger space. Contrasting with the discreet monochromatic design interiors, these geometric design insertions break the monotony by offering a multitude of visual dimensions.

Here are a few details that shine light on architectural solutions employed in this inspiring modern eye clinic: “Dubbing of walls is made using gray water-resistant panels. Eye examination rooms require limitations on natural light, so deaf walls are located everywhere in these premises. At the same time, there is no feeling of an enclosed space – as windows are located at the ends of all corridors. The interior is harmoniously enlivened by white laminated doors. The opal film on the glass partitions and doors is made according to the architects' designs. The internal walls of the auditorium used for conferences and performances are lined with trapezoidal panels. LED light strips are mounted at the ends. The walls with geometric patterns, tables with beveled bases and triangular lights, all form a very dynamic space. Convertible partitions allow controlling the interior space of the auditorium.”

Flexible Space for Living and Relaxation in Namibia

Combining simple clarity with the passion for design excellence, Wasserfall Munting Architects reinterpreted a house built in the 1950′s in Klein Windhoek, Namibia, in order to reconnect it with the surrounding site. Placed within a tranquil oasis of indigenous acacia trees, the house is a flexible space for living and relaxing while enjoying the benefits of the outdoors. Exterior looks a little rusty and bulky, kept this way for low maintenance purposes. In contrast, the interior feels very warm and cozy, due to the “excessive” use of plywood linings and built-in cupboards.

“The intervention brings a sense of programmatic clarity and simplicity to a compromised layout, and attempts to create simple, robust spaces to live in. The double-volume living area with its butterfly roof and clerestory windows to the south is the heart of the house: oversized glazed sliding doors afford a seamless connection to a large terraced patio overlooking the garden and affording panoramic views of the distant mountains.” Mica stone walls were added to link the nature’s fantastic work to the man-made construction. Residents are encouraged to fully enjoy the simplicity of a soothing space and connect on a visual level with the landscape.
