architecture Project Geometrix Straight Forward Bedroom Design in Black&White by GeometrixGeometrix Design completed a black&white bedroom which showcases a straight forward approach, despite its complex array of textures and finishes. If you recall the studio’s previous project, a special living room with futuristic detailing completed for a family of musicians, then the bold design of this bedroom (discovered by Freshome on Homedit) will not come as a surprise: “In this project, we applied the principle of parametric architecture again; however, this time the work was more elaborated: there is no space between panels (the viewers won't care about dust), that's why the wall looks like a complex monolithic element with intricate curves, some features serve as shelves, and some of them are decorative only“, the designers explained.

A leather quilted bed with a ceiling-high head, a cube-shaped mirror and a walk-in closet were all perfectly integrated in the overall scheme. How do you find the result? Panoramic Views, Privacy and Art Over Stuttgart: The Vista House

Posted: 24 Apr 2014 04:40 AM PDT

Vista House by Alexander Brenner Architekten 1 Panoramic Views, Privacy and Art Over Stuttgart: The Vista HouseNorth of Stuttgart, overlooking the city from an impressive perspective, the modern Vista House offers views from three levels. Reached via a southern access road leading to the garage, this dream home belongs to an art loving couple. Alexander Brenner Architekten made sure the plot would offer the best living solutions for its owners, starting with the existing challenges and working their way up to the sleeping area on the third floor. They explain how the house can offer magnificent city views thanks to the placement of the garage: “While the garage, situated below the garden, is visible only through a wood-clad incision in the existing sandstone wall, the arriving is guided onto the property by a black concrete sculpture, a freely deformed polished wall. A gently curved path leads via the east side to the entrance at the rear of the plot.”

Protected from prying eyes to the east and north, the immaculate play of volumes opens the interiors to sunlight via floor-to-ceiling and multi-storey glazing. Its angular shape – photographed by Zooey Braun – directs the interiors towards the views while creating a sheltered courtyard showcasing the garden and pool. Displaying a highly modern, angular design, the house named after its most prominent feature was imagined both as a residence and a homey art gallery. Living spaces were extended on two floors, allowing owners to proudly display their art collections. The lower level is more vibrantly colored and includes a library, workplace, piano and fireplace, while the next level was kept white as a neutral background for art. Deep dark bog oak floorboards lay at your feet while you admire artistic perspectives and also connects the rest of the spaces with the main living room. A virtual tour through the residence will leave you inspired, so enjoy!

Massive Contemporary Residence Taking in Perfect Lake Views

Posted: 24 Apr 2014 12:19 AM PDT

architecture project Lake House Massive Contemporary Residence Taking in Perfect Lake ViewsBBSC Architects completed the design and development of a massive contemporary residence located in The Netherlands. Light, sight and see-through were the three main “ingredients” which stood at the basis of the design. The street facade was partially closed in order to allow a high level of privacy, while the opposite side is transparent.
design project Lake House Massive Contemporary Residence Taking in Perfect Lake ViewsA bright and serene atmosphere was achieved by opening up the interiors to the swimming pool and spectacular lake views beyond.: “All living and sleeping quarters look out over the garden and the lake. A central void connects the ground-floor with the first floor and links the cozy, raised up sitting area with the kitchen and eating area“. Despite a minimalist approach, some of the rooms are well defined aesthetically. White walls absorb and reflect the natural light that penetrates through the front facade, magnifying the feeling of space. [Photographs: Wim Van Eesbeeck]

Eccentric Architecture: Space Shuttle Replica Built on Top of Chinese Roof

Chinese shuttle house Eccentric Architecture: Space Shuttle Replica Built on Top of Chinese RoofThis space shuttle replica added on top of a roof in Guangdong province, China is taking off in the news worldwide. According to Chinanews.com, the unconventional “extension” belongs to Huang Yuzhan, a 60 year-old farmer who decided his house should have some bursting personality. While the idea of a private nonfunctional spaceship may appeal to an adventure-enthusiast, we must admit this project intrigued and surprised us, more than it impressed us aesthetically. This is why we decided to share it forward and see what you guys think.

house space shuttle3 Eccentric Architecture: Space Shuttle Replica Built on Top of Chinese RoofUnfortunately, we were not able to find out intricate details about this, such as the duration of the project or the material used to build it. We can only imagine that this piece of roof decor brought the owner closer to fulfilling his life-long dream of flying into space. So… how do you find this unconventional idea? Did you ever come close to adding a roof extension of this “magnitude”?

60′s Bungalow Completely Transformed Into Modern House in Bruges

architecture project HS Residence 60s Bungalow Completely Transformed Into Modern House in BrugesBuilt on a rectangular plot in the outskirts of Bruges, Belgium, this modern house by CUBYC architects features large canopies which protect the building from overheating. According to the architects, HS Residence replaces a 60′s bungalow: “The existing building was demolished because it did no longer meet the current comfort and energy requirements. The location of the former building dictated the position of the new property.” Offering a succession of different perspectives and experiences, the design of this Belgium retreat is well adapted to the various needs of contemporary living. design project HS Residence 60s Bungalow Completely Transformed Into Modern House in BrugesAn open plan living zone with unobstructed swimming pool views acts as the core of HS Residence. Featuring plenty of openings, the project can be described as airy and extremely spacious. However, white corridors and minimalist arrangements make some of the rooms feel sober and devoid of personality. How would you personally describe this home?
