The Virgin Buildings (what an appropriate name) surprise a carefully imagined auto-sufficient world where nature and man-made comfort meet on a balanced life-sustaining platform. Since the balance seems to indicate that half of us humans live in cities, the next logical step in exploring possibilities is creating habitats where we rekindle our love for nature.

Virgin’s Perspective on a Greener Future

As long as we constantly upgrade our understanding of how we can responsibly use renewable resources, our respect for simplicity will grow even more. Introduced by Richard Branson as “the world's greenest skyscrapers”, these residential wonders will be part of urban landscapes soon: “From a spaceship design in Sydney, to a plane design in London; from a balloon design in New York, to a kiteboard design in Cape Town; these extraordinary Virgin Buildings will positively change the landscape for the environment, architecture and cities around the world.”

Two Level House Framing the Surrounding Views in Peru

BK House1 Two Level House Framing the Surrounding Views in Peru Located within the city of Lima, capital of Peru, the BK House was designed by Domenack Arquitectos for a family of five (parents and three children). Nested away from the eyes of the neighbours, at the back end of a plot, this two level house frames the surrounding views and encourages a dynamic and versatile living. The social area is very connected to the outdoors through large panels of glass which replace the walls and can be fully opened when needed. The house is well-lit and ventilated. Several patios, a lounge pool area and a beautiful garden serve as outdoor recreation spots for the residents.

Two level house 1 Two Level House Framing the Surrounding Views in Peru “The house has been designed with a roof of structural laminated wood supported by steel and exposed concrete structures. This roof is the element that integrates the whole design and composition of the house. The steel structure that supports it also defines and moderates the scale of the different spaces of the house.” The dwelling comprises two floors, each with different functions. First floor houses the social area whilst the second floor accommodates the bedrooms and bathrooms. Both floors features terraces and visually connect to the gardens. [Photo credit: Juan Solano]

Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in Moscow

Compact apartment Moscow Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in MoscowWonderfully designed with soothing pastel colours, this compact interior was imagined by Int2 architecture in Moscow, Russia. There’s a lot to love in this 45 sq. m apartment: the playfulness, the smart storage solutions, the soft colours and the overall positive vibe exuded throughout the entire living area. Despite the limited amount of space, the loft feels roomy and well-ventilated. I love the white mixed with pops of pastel, the brick work, the crossword game in the bathroom, the cool kitchen and the balcony area! Simplicity and elegance go hand in hand, unveiling a home that is appealing like a candy floss in the eyes of a child.

Bedroom believe Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in Moscow The apartment is super cute and it feels like a magically protected haven. It comprises a living room, kitchen and sleeping area. The bed was placed strategically on a raised podium to visually divide the sleeping area from the living room and to offer extra space for storage underneath. The major problem with small flats is that you don’t get exactly enough space to deposit all your stuff. So, what did the team responsible with the project come up with? Transform the furniture into multipurpose items. On the balcony, seats are made from repainted army boxes and can be easily used for storage. Personally, I think that the pastel colours (pale pink, mint green, dusty yellow), enhance the feeling of warmth and tenderness, creating a fairytale-like home, ideal for a young lady. pastel bedroom Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in Moscow Colourful kitchen Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in Moscow Mint green creative kitchen Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in MoscowNarrow space for collecting objects Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in MoscowBathroom scrabble Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in MoscowInterior NI and plan Functional Interior Designed with Soothing Pastel Colours in Moscow
