Beams Flourishing Into Branches: Henrique Oliveira ‘s Baitogogo

Baitogogo by Henrique Oliveira 1 Beams Flourishing Into Branches: Henrique Oliveira s BaitogogoSurprised by the unusual entanglement of life-like branches and custom-made structural beams? We were too, then took a closer look at Henrique Oliveira‘s alluring installation only to find that the vegetal world was craftfully merged with its organic counterpart. Photographed by André Morin, this surprising installation shows how the Brazilian artist interlinks existing elements, materializing ideas. Thanks to emerging artists, we can look at discarded objects turned into the reality of an idea.

This large installation (2,200 sq ft) named Baitogogo was displayed at Palais de Tokyo in Paris last year. Curators see the site-specific installation as: “Creating a spectacular and invasive Gordian Knot, Henrique Oliveira plays with Palais de Tokyo's architecture, allowing a work that combines the vegetal and the organic to emerge. The building itself becomes the womb that produces this volume of "tapumes" wood, a material used in Brazilian towns to construct the wooden palisades that surround construction sites.” Beyond the materials, the story runs deeper. Catch the story behind the construction in the video below the photos.

Green House in Sydney Two Storey House Split in Two by Carterwilliamson ArchitectsWhen we spot an interesting, worth-mentioning project, we share it on Freshome. Why? Because we want you guys to get the best design and architecture insights. With this being said, we want to present you the house of a florist, a two-storey dwelling constructed by Carterwilliamson Architects, last year, in Rozelle region, West Sydney, Australia. Simply dubbed the Green House, the dwelling distinguishes itself through an energy-saving program and a strong sense of connection with the external spaces. "The collaboration with Melissa Wilson Landscape Architects maximised the potential of the outdoor spaces and addressed a variety of tricky microclimates. It included the creation of bespoke timber garden boxes that hang in the shady, green courtyard, adding to the lush feel of the space."

At the rear, the house is split in two by an internal lightwell, to disperse light throughout the entire living area. Exterior is coated in glass mosaic tiles and brick work, adding texture and colour. After all, aesthetics matters when it comes to designing the house of an artist. Along with the social area, the house accommodates also a home office, significantly reducing the frequency of the client's commute, a quiet and restful bedroom and a contemplative library, both located at the top floor.

Desert view Black Villa Insanely Powerful Design: Black Desert Mansion in Yucca ValleyOller & Pejic Architecture, an architecture firm from L.A. together with Marc Atlan completed the design of Black Desert Mansion. The unusual home was nested away from the urban "jungle", in Yucca Valley, California. Characterised by sobriety, it features an insanely powerful design. Geometric shapes played a key role in creating this impressive dark-coloured desert shelter. Despite the shadowy appearance, it exhales elegance. After all, black is the very definition of grace and style!

Interior feels uncluttered and filled with light and warmth. Walls were replaced with large panels of glass, allowing the sun to find its path throughout the house. “The exceptional quality of silence is unparalleled and the beauty of the dark night sky borders on spiritual. Five minutes from civilization, the site nevertheless gives the sensation of being beyond time.” Boasting straight lines and contemporary furnishing, the interior feels sleek and uncluttered. The team of architects involved in the project intended to create a strong contrast between the landscape and the living space. Naturally, the result is spectacular.
