Eco-Friendly Recycled Concrete Pipes Hotel: TuboHotel Posted: 10 Aug 2011 06:56 AM PDT The TuboHotel is an amazing eco-responsible tourist spot made from recycled concrete pipes sheltering 20 rooms. Located in Tepoztlán, Mexico, the Tubo Hotel is inspired by architect Andreas Strauss’ Dasparkhotel – the first hotel made from reclaimed concrete pipes. Overlooking the Sierra del Tepozteco, the eco hotel is made of three volumes of concrete tubes stacked on top of each other, in order to gain as much space as possible. The first three tubocretos modules and the placement plan were done by T3arc, while the construction of the rest of the modules remained in the hands of the hotel’s administration. Part of the trending eco-responsible tourism, the TuboHotel covers 220 square meters and it took 3 months for it to be finished. This hotel is perfect if you’re on a vacation that is focused on visiting and having fun rather than on rest and relaxation.

Stylish and Modern: Dinesh Mills Bungalow by atelier dnD Posted: 10 Aug 2011 03:54 AM PDT Here is a home showcasing a faultless modern design. Dinesh Mills Bungalow comes from atelier dnD (we noticed their site is having some problems right now, but be sure to check back in a few days) and is located just outside the city of Vadodara, India. The exterior is absolutely fascinating, as the house seems to float on a spectacular pool, enriched with a lovely decorating fountain. Its turquoise color contrasts the white walls of the residence, giving the home an intriguing aesthetic effect. The living room is impressive in size and opens up to the deck/pool area. Floor to ceiling windows ensure a perfect indoor/outdoor connection and allow natural light to “flood” the interiors. As usual, we invite you take a virtual tour of this lovely home and give us your feedback. [Photograpy by Sebastian Zacheriah] Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !

30 Scandinavian Home Desks That Encourage Work Creativity Posted: 10 Aug 2011 02:34 AM PDT Have a look at these lovely home desks designed in a faultless Scandinavian style! For today we thought of gathering a collection of 30 less conventional home offices that could make work less rigid and more inviting. With a splash of color here and there, colorful wallpapers and chairs, appealing picture frames or intriguing looking lamps, each and anyone of you can turn your home desk into a welcoming working space. The photos below feature some amazing decors, each of them different and with a well defined personality. As you can observe, most of the desks are situated in isolated parts of the apartments, such as corners, small attic spaces or alcoves. A window nearby is always a good idea to consider. The working tables are unconventional, some of them having a vintage style. Calendars, flowers, post-its with messages from friends, a good book-these are small details that can turn a dull desk into an appealing and creative space to work.

Modern Concrete Home & Workspace in Argentina: Sobrino House Posted: 10 Aug 2011 01:34 AM PDT Sobrino House was designed by A4 Estudio and is located in Mendoza, Argentina. Here is an official description from the architects: “Facing a complex project where the house is also a workplace, we proposed an organized level where all the living uses and human relations are possible: relax, shelter, contemplation and work. In a topographic operation, all the family activities converges in a common volume that lands on the highest level of the ground and rises 2.5 m from the lowest part. This operation proposes the entry to the house underneath all these activities, stripping at this point the natural slope. Square floor plan, perimeter activities program in relation to the best sunshine light and views, and the circulations related to a central patio that strips the natural slope of the site, structure an eccentric and dens spatiality, where the path ways became the heart of the house. At the top of the house, a system of inverted beams and concrete tensors hold the corbels, exposing the structure as part of the identity of the house“. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to give us your feedback.

Modernising a Suburban Mansion: Grace Darling House Posted: 10 Aug 2011 12:30 AM PDT Are you wondering how to enlarge your home by adding more space and character? Then it’s time to get inspired by the Grace Darling House in Melbourne, Victoria. This house fascinates with a combination of modern interiors and easily recognisable exteriors that seem to have been constructed all at once. The suburban location of the residence makes it transform from a highly modern retreat into a comfortable and cosy family home. But looking beyond the imposing architecture of the house, you can see the inviting interiors that describe a relaxed living style and a passion for exceptional interior design. Copper, recycled jarrah and luxurious Calacatta marble were used to create the architectural language of this modern home – the renovations and additions allow the house to express its historic value without having to make this Hawthorn mansion unrecognisable. Architects from Iredale Pedersen Hook collaborated with interior designer Beatrix Rowe to create a stunning home divided into non-restrictive living spaces and displaying a charming atmosphere.

Innovative Faucet Stand for iPad and iPhone from Nendo Elecom Posted: 09 Aug 2011 10:15 AM PDT The Nendo Elecom Faucet Stand for iPhone and iPad is the most interesting idea seen this week. An exploration into the world of versatile design and creative, functional ideas – the iPad and iPhone stand shaped like a faucet with water running down into a rippled base is both relaxing and exciting in equal measures. Made from polycarbonate plastic with ABS faucet parts, the stand draws attention like no other – its crisp design surpasses similar gadgets and fabricates a new path for creative iPad and iPhone stands. Clearly the one with the deepest impact is the faucet coloured in blue – it resembles water pouring out of the faucet so much that it can be successfully used as a freestanding decorative object that will become the centre of attention. Also available in black, white or clear, the faucet stand was designed for Elecom by Japanese studio Nendo. No information on the cost or date of release yet, but we’ll be waiting for this one.

Tiny Stockholm Apartment with Smart Floor Plan Posted: 09 Aug 2011 09:08 AM PDT Small spaces can convey the same feeling of comfort and modern design as a large house, provided that the interior decoration suits the space and enhances its unique shape. This next condo is located on the top floor of an apartment building in the Kungsholmen neighbourhood of Stockholm, Sweden. Overlooking the Kronoberg Park – which can be enjoyed from the spacious balcony that receives sun all day – the condominium just had the kitchen and bathroom remodelled. Situated close to restaurants, cafes and shops, the apartment features parquet floors in the hallway and the living room. The small space had to be used to its full potential, so the room was divided in a smart way, placing the kitchen in an alcove and the dining space right next to it. The kitchen is equipped with ceramic hobs, an oven, dishwasher and fridge and was well planned, offering both storage areas and working surfaces. Although it is very small, this apartment is the essence of urbanization, forcing people to come up with smart solutions for small spaces.
