| Two Intersected Cubes and a Lovely Pool: “Haus N” Posted: 01 Aug 2011 05:49 AM PDT “Haus N” is an interesting architecture project in the shape of a single family home designed by Synn Architekten and located in Korneuburg, Austria. The residence consists of two giant cubes that are intersected, this way creating an original house exterior. The main entrance is hidden, disclosed only by some concrete steps that lead towards a large door. One of the cubes features a giant glass facade, which can be opened and closed, thus allowing the living room to be “indoors” or “outdoors”, at the inhabitants’ will. The residence is reflected into a lovely pool, well integrated in the overall design of the project. Once inside, visitors are confronted with imposing interiors, illuminated by the floor to ceiling glass windows and seemingly borrowing colors from the sky and pool outside. Enjoy the photos and tell us what you think.

| Clothes Store Design Based on Color Contrasts: Hi-lo in Brazil Posted: 01 Aug 2011 04:04 AM PDT Hi-lo clothes store was designed by architect David Guerra and is located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Here is a project description from the designers: “The clothing store follows the High and Low style, in a mix of opposites with recognized, young, conceptual and basic brands. The concept extends for the interior architecture, in a contrast of colors, materials and sensations. The front view, in latticework 40x40cm, has a metallic pinky red beam. In the area of clothing exposition, the lightness and romanticism were explored by using the colors white, silver and dry golden. Contrasts between French wallpapers on the screens, the buttoned fabric in the service area and the work in lace-trimmed on the wall, made of Tetra Park boxes by the artist Léo Piló, make the environment gentle for choosing clothes“. The interiors are enhanced by interesting looking panels, red curtains, indirect lightning, mirrors, a classic red chandelier and many more. How do you appreciate the design of this clothes store? | Seemingly Floating Bed with Book Storage Space by Lago Posted: 01 Aug 2011 03:03 AM PDT We really like this ethereal bed, a stylish furniture piece that was designed in a typical Lago manner, found on HomeTone. Letto New Air was initially introduced at Milan Design week and was created by Daniele Lago. Perfectly fit for elegant bedrooms, Letto New Air features transparent support slabs (which contribute to the floating feeling) and comes equipped with a storage unit that does not interfere with its refined design. According to the manufacturers, “the New AIR Bed picks up the concept behind the AIR Sofa: elements like back rests, seats and shelving are integrated into the structure and can be configured however you wish. The back rests make up the head board, and the shelving can be made to run along the entire perimeter of the bed”. Even though this idea is only suited for large bedrooms, we appreciate its originality. How do you find it?

| USB Drive Shaped Like a DSLR Camera for the Photo Geek in You Posted: 01 Aug 2011 01:55 AM PDT Not too long ago, we presented two cool designs on Freshome that were very popular. We are talking about the Canon and Nikon coffee mugs that zoom out when needed and the Lens Pillows. What do these two posts have in common? Your love for photography, of course. For today we prepared another small product based on our contemporary craving for taking photos as well as our need to transfer them. Called Camera USB Drive, this small device measures 2″ wide and 1.25″ tall and resembles the popular DSLR cameras. What better low-budget gift for a photography enthusiast than a cute and friendly USB stick reminding the users not to let a day go by without them feeding their passion? Even though such a product already existed, the main difference between this USB drive and the one already on the market is that this design separates the lens from the body, so that connecting the stick to a computer (laptops too), is no longer a problem. The gadget can be purchased online here, for $20 (shipping costs not included).

| Contemporary Beach House in Australia Linked to the Outdoors Posted: 01 Aug 2011 12:43 AM PDT This modern beach house was designed by Baenziger Coles Architects and is located in Point Lonsdale, Australia. The brief given by the owner envisioned a residence that would communicate well with the outdoors and reflect the inhabitant’s passion for surfing and fishing. According to the architects, “the scale of the house respects adjoining neighbors. The site orientation and arrangement of the built forms respond and embrace the natural environment at every opportunity, as does the use of local and recycled materials. The design is based on the simple arrangement of three distinct elements – the first floor "container", the ground floor area that contains the internal spatial arrangements and the lounge area. There are many hidden treasures, finely detailed surprises, hand crafted artifacts and trinkets that have been woven into the design of the house, many only becoming evident after closer examination.” We invite you to search for these details in the photos below and allow yourself to get inspired.
