| Contemporary Expression of Architecture: The Stoneridge Residence by Assembledge+ Posted: 14 Apr 2011 05:49 AM PDT The Stoneridge Residence was designed by Assembledge+, in collaboration with Billy Rose Design. Renovating the home on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles took a lot of effort. Having been created as a show home for the Avenues of Art & Design group of West Hollywood in collaboration with Luxe Magazine, the dwelling underwent massive renovation in order to “reconnect the house with its site through large restructured openings and a thorough landscaping effort“. Made from large volumes covered in brick, the residence’s second floor captures a beautiful panorama of San Fernando Valley. An Olympic-sized infinity-edge pool in the backyard balances the exceptional huge glass windows accentuated by dark steel support elements. Wood and stone dominate the interiors of the Stoneridge Residence. A fully functional kitchen on the ground floor and a home cinema vitalize the house with aromas and relaxation. An interesting rippling custom-moulded wall art greets everyone at the entrance. Occupying 2100 square feet on the second floor, the master bedroom suite clearly represents a strong sense of luxury. After you enjoyed every detail of the beautiful show house, please share with us what your favourite element is.

| Handmade Vogue Magazine Cover: A Cool Decorating Item? Posted: 14 Apr 2011 04:25 AM PDT Artist Inge Jacobsen came up with the creative idea of hand stitching Vogue cover magazines. The unusual project is part of the artist’s final degree show taking place in June this year. As for us, we like to think of his works as fun and creative decorative items, especially for the cribs of young bachelorettes. The items are said to be exactly the size of a Vogue cover. This makes perfect sense when considering that Inge over-stitches the real cover. He says it takes about 2 week, working 2-3 hours a day to finish a cover. This proves that with the right image and plenty of thread, one can do some pretty amazing things. Freshome readers, what do you think of the artist’s work?

| Inspiring Looking Penthouse with Billiard Living Room in New York Posted: 14 Apr 2011 02:16 AM PDT Christodora Penthouse was designed by Lyn Rice Architects and is located in New York According to the architects, the renovation of this apartment “involved the clarification and update of the space's material and programmatic logics. The penthouse's north, winter zone is a warm, intimate area organized around the apartment's existing hearth. The south summer zone transitions to a larger, loft space designed to accommodate large gatherings and is accessed through a thickened bar-wall containing a wet bar/wine storage, while concealing new service and storage areas that serve the adjacent formal dining area. A 55-foot long, cool grey bamboo panel wall with radiused corners lines the summer zone, a section of which pivots opens to soften the scale of the space for smaller groups and enhances the mood of the dining and recreation areas. The open wall reveals its soft back-side and inner lining of tufted faux ostrich, transforming the southernmost space into a club room for billiard play.” Freshome readers, how do you like tufted indoor panels?
