| Inspired by Works of a Spanish Sculptor: A-cero’s Open Box House Posted: 04 Apr 2011 06:23 AM PDT Located in the outskirts of Madrid, A-cero’s wonderful Open Box House forecasts a world of modern architecture and comfortable living. The sculptural 750 m2 house has a surprisingly artistic shape, inspired by Spanish sculptor Jorge Oteiza, renowned for being one of the main theorists on Spanish modern art. Featuring three storeys, the Open Box House dominates the surroundings with the help of architecturally significant forms. Here is a description of the Open Box House from the designers: “Open box is notable for its façade in concrete granulated in some face and brandering in other faces. The house´s plot has is 2.600 m2. The basement takes the garage and facilities and the ground floor has the living room, kitchen and servant's quarter. In the first floor are the private rooms (4 bedrooms) and a library. The interior design includes furniture designed by A-cero and the Italian company Fendi. The landscaping has been designed by A-cero too. It is a Japanese garden as a conclusion, an A-cero work in which you can see its looking for the quality, comfort and design excellence.”

| Exceptional Container Home by and for Industrial Designer Debbie Glassberg [Video] Posted: 04 Apr 2011 04:21 AM PDT Who would have thought that containers will serve much more than their original purpose? Industrial designer Debbie Glassberg says she is driven by design and this is what helped her overcome ordinary architecture. Debbie Glassberg’s home is a 2,600 square feet structure made of five shipping containers that has a rather unusual appearance. Located in Kansas City, the extraordinary dwelling has it all: space, light and life. Featuring a white galley kitchen with energy efficient appliances as the heart of the house, Debbie’s home welcomes guests with a radiant ambiance and offers moments of admiration. Other rooms on the first floor have the same open floor plan as the bedrooms upstairs. On the roof of her new residence, Debbie grows a rooftop edible garden. The produce is stocked in an almost invisible pantry, protected by a large, white sliding door, as you can see in the first video below. Apart from having a green roof, the residence also features geothermal heating, plant foam insulation and some passive solar. The good news is that Debbie will be constructing homes for anyone interested. Her project, Home Contained, is one that could turn into a large scale industry, especially if the construction costs are lower than average. Would you live in a container home?

I know I have, but i could never imagine how the castle would look like. Now I see someone is living in my dream castle! Owned by architect Charles Sieger of Sieger Suarez, the extraordinary property Charles Sieger is a renowned architect who has designed over ten billion dollars in real estate properties. Now his own residence, the “Sieger Residence” expresses his work and seems to be a constant reminder of his success. Surrounded by a large, lake-like moat, the exceptional construction has a balanced symmetry that guides the design lines. Upon entering the property, elegant black gates welcome the guests and take them to a beautiful pathway towards the residence, flanked by trimmed hedges and trees. Crossing the bridge, the view opens to the magnificent castle. A river runs right at the edge of the property, making the aerial view even more spectacular. See the construction of the moat surrounding the mansion in the last photo. And for those of you who love hip-hop music and would like to take a tour of the castle, check out Birdman’s “Fire Flame” video (careful, explicit content) filmed on Sieger incredible property.
