Exceptional Maldives Resort Designed by SCDA Architects: The Alila Villas Hadahaa Posted: 24 Mar 2011 06:02 AM PDT Based on an array of beautiful scenery, the Alila Villas Hadahaa island resort in the Maldives is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Designed by SCDA Architects, the amazing retreat welcomes its guests with a surprising collection of inside and outside spaces. Featuring 16 Island Villas, 20 Island Villas with a private pool, and 14 Aqua Villas, the retreat complex is the first luxury resort in the Gaafu Alifu (North Huvadhoo) Atoll in the Maldives' new southern frontier. Offering tranquillity and relaxation, the resort had to be constructed to take advantage of tropical climate conditions: “rainwater harvesting and waste treatment plants were implemented; and special green design elements include high roofed areas and open ceilings, cross ventilation in all indoor spaces, deep roof overhangs, and window shading. The Island Villas create an intimate setting for relaxation and are only a short sandy walk to the azure waters of the house reef. Elegant and Minimalist House in Australia Displaying Natural Colours Posted: 24 Mar 2011 03:34 AM PDT Showcasing elegant furniture and natural colours, this next residence can be purchased here. Built in Richmond, South Australia, the house is located on Burnley Street and features one bedroom, a simple and elegant home office and a large two car garage on the ground floor; a comfortable living room and a small, de-cluttered bedroom on the first floor, while the second floor is occupied by an open kitchen and a minimalist dining room. Large sliding doors link the terrace on the second floor to the dining room, creating the possibility of extending the outdoor space and enjoying fresh air and views of the city. Exquisite Modern Mexican Home: Todos Santos Residence Posted: 23 Mar 2011 09:36 AM PDT Gracia studio have completed an interesting architecture project located in Todos Santos, Mexico made up of two houses, one available for rent and the other one as a vacation home for the owners. Two basic materials were used for the finishing touch of the project’s facade: “talavera" tiles, a typical materials in México since the Spanish conquest and exposed concrete walls. These make the residence embed perfectly in its natural environment. All the rooms in the house are open towards the pool and terrace which provides easy access to the outdoors. The focal point of this home however remains its beautiful semi-covered pool, a perfect space for socializing and relaxation.  We found out that the residence was built with a relatively small budget, despite its highly intriguing appearance.(Photography: Sandra Muñoz) Ready for more amazing design ideas?
