IKEA Parisian Saga Continues with 12 Bus Shelters Turned into Livingrooms Posted: 16 Dec 2010 07:03 AM PST If you thought IKEA”s ingenious advertising strategy in Paris stopped at showcasing furniture in high-traffic metro-stations, wait till you see this season’s campaign! According to the company’s press release, IKEA continues to improve the everyday life of the Parisians, by ‘transforming bus shelters into small cozy lounges. An innovative break at this period of crazy Christmas shopping. From 15 till 21 December 2010, IKEA is in the streets, offering the inhabitants and visitors of the Capital town, the possibility to wait for the bus in an IKEA lounge, comfortably sited in a sofa of the famous Swedish brand.’ The makeover includes 12 bus shelters located next to important commercial centers. As people shop, shop, shop, IKEA’s awareness grows. We are looking forward to more surprising ideas from the furniture giant this Christmas. Do you happen to know of any other witty winter campaigns that they initiated this year?

Delightfully Bright Apartment Expresses Love for Small Spaces Posted: 16 Dec 2010 06:10 AM PST Today we came across an ingenious apartment design on Stadshem. All the elements gathered by the designers that worked on creating the interiors of this home produce an overwhelming feeling of luxurious living. The white walls in each room are accentuated by elements that enhance their simplicity: dark beams running through the ceilings, a wallpaper showing a small part of a forest and the stone fireplace. The apartment is situated in the attic of a building, so almost all the walls are slanted. Many skylights insure the bright sunlight needed to emphasize the contemporary furniture and well chosen decorations. A tiny balcony barely accommodates a table and four chairs, but offers just enough space for the morning coffee to be enjoyed together with the frisk air. Although the apartment is not very large, all the spaces were used at maximum. Storage space takes up every corner but it looks as if the comfort was not disturbed. Wooden stairs with metal railings connect the living area with the bedroom. Every room is connected to the next and we can barely see any walls separating the living spaces. Even if the apartment is not suited for a big family, we think that it brings out the best in small space design.

Ingenious Storage Locker Hidden in a Fake Support Column Posted: 15 Dec 2010 09:46 AM PST For today we decided to showcase this brilliant storing solution from Sophie Mense: a capacious locker concealed in a support column. The incredible “product” consists of two distinct elements, an elegant Cedar wood cabinet and a Carrara marble pedestal which can be moved around in order to access the locker more easily. Here are some of Sophie’s words describing the project: I have chosen to work with a shape that gets absorbed by the space; the column, a constructive element of the house. A column is also a monument to impress, to remember important events that may not be forgotten. The column as a monument and the column as a constructive element are like the equivalent of my Column, but in the size and scale that fits to our interior. The original furniture piece is custom made for each interior and is a daring and functional idea for both private and public spaces. What do you guys think of it?

Fresh and Colorful Furniture Set: Imaginatio Collection by Cristian Zuzunaga Posted: 15 Dec 2010 08:34 AM PST Imaginatio is a vivid furniture collection designed by Cristian Zuzunaga in collaboration with Christophe Delcourt. Christian though that it would be interesting to “dress-up” a range of sofas, chairs and beds displaying an appealing fabric which has an intriguing pixelated effect. According to the designer, this was obtained from the willingly achieved deformation and expansion of a photo (a natural scenery from Shanghai). Christophe Delcourt explains that “Christian's colorful and abstract pattern has been studied and applied in order to erase the limits of furniture, giving an illusion of a painting depending on the angle of view.” We believe that this colorful furniture collection is a practical solution for brightening up a room and improve its mood. Moreover, the set is easy to integrate in a variety of contemporary minimalist arrangements.- via Daily Icon Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !
