Self-Suficient White Steel Villa in Costa Rica Posted: 30 Oct 2010 05:15 AM PDT Robles Arquitectos created this incredible beach Villa in Costa Rica. The house is wonderfully situated on a small hill above the ocean, 20km from away from any town. The self-sustainable structure was a challenge to the architects, as the house had to be independent and reliable in the humid environment. Peninsula de Osa, the place where this modern building is situated, is an amazing home to 5 % of the world`s biodiversity and the calming and paradise-like effect it has on the inhabitants of this house is astonishing. The building houses a multifunctional space for the ISEAMI Institute (Institute of Sustainability, Ecology, Art,Mind and and the second level of the house is used as a home by the Institute`s director. A Miniature World of Fantasy and Games: Rhapsody Children’s Beds Posted: 29 Oct 2010 12:37 PM PDT We don’t know if it is right to call the furniture products below “children’s beds”, simply due to the fact that the last thing children would think about while being in them is sleep. The beautiful wooden Rhapsody Beds (we have to respect their official name) come from CedarWorks and were created while respecting the dreams and wishes of children. They are not just a place for sleeping, but more important for playing, exploring, discovering. We think “imagination” is the key word that can characterize these beds, as they manage to put together a miniature world which the children can “customize” in any way they desire. Cushions, sliders, toys, chalkboards- all these elements increase the kids’ creativity as well as their ability to interact with one another. Don’t you find them just… cuddly?- via Decosfera

How to Plan a Personalized Gym for your Home Posted: 29 Oct 2010 10:53 AM PDT In this modern day and age when you're trying to squeeze everything into your schedule, wouldn't it be nice to have a home gym? Instead of driving to the gym, waiting to get on a treadmill and then driving home – a home gym could make you workout more often! Before you set up a home gym there are considerations you need to make. Depending on the size of your space, type of equipment, and your budget to spend on supplies will dictate what type of gym is best for your home.
o Noise: Most home gyms have music playing, weights and equipment making noise, etc.. Before changing a current room, make sure it's not adjacent to quiet areas like bedrooms and bathroom areas. o Adequate ventilation: Ensure there is enough air circulation and/or conditioned air into the space. If you choose a room with low air flow you will become overheated quicker and it may not be comfortable for you to regularly work out in the space. o Electrical requirements: Before buying equipment research how much power is required to run the desired equipment in the existing room. Your home may not have enough circuit's available if your convert an existing room. If you're not sure, ask an electrician for help determining the load currently on your space. A home gym is a great idea for the homeowner who wants to have convenience, flexibility and a customized gym experience. Your gym can be all that you dream of by following these simple tips when you plan out yours. If you generally workout with friends, ask for their input – they'll help give you inspiration and may become your work out buddies at your house! Complex Modern Architecture: Casa en el Uro in Mexico Posted: 29 Oct 2010 09:45 AM PDT Casa en el Uro was designed by 7XA Architects and is located in el Uro, Mexico. For us it is a showcase of contemporary architecture in its most intricate form. This residence consists of various volumes in shape and size which connect in unexpected ways, creating unexpected angles. The shape of the house “outlines” a generous green space and a large pool which contrast nicely with the white exterior walls of the building. The overall opulence is taken to another level as one steps inside. The enormous rooms, floor to ceiling windows, high-end arrangements and craving for colors make this home resemble a miniature royal settlement. Modern furniture elements combine with more traditional-shaped ones (the chairs in the dining room for example) in creating a home that is both luxurious and diverse.
