Fresh and Inspiring Sky&Clouds Interior Theme Posted: 20 Sep 2010 05:24 AM PDT We ran across this beautiful room design and we could not help noticing just how much energy it inspires. “Mural Azul” comes from Jorge Aguilar and is a fascinating interior design project that could serve as a great starting point when decorating your own crib. The wall murals are a fresh alternative to painting and together with the matching sofa and armchairs can turn a room into a small work of art. This is the type of interior that could never get its inhabitants bored, as they would probably be permanently tempted to gaze at the fun and captivating “drawings”. A great idea for a teens’ room, this “theme” trend could be taken further. New similar, but more sober designs could be developed for bedrooms, hallways and even meeting rooms. Strong Modernism with a Pinch of Colour by The Apartment Posted: 20 Sep 2010 04:18 AM PDT Stefan Boublil from The Apartment has created a space for wonders: 3 small New York apartments have come together under his blessed design wand. The boldness with which he creates the inspiring interior design has many faces: from strong splashes of colour to straight modern lines. This residential home thrones over Central Park offering the most magnificent view. < Every room looks like it was seamlessly sewn to the next one. The pure white walls are the perfect canvas for Stefan`s imagination. The kitchen walls and dining area ceiling are wrapped in waxed concrete as if to enhance the apartment`s uniqueness. The floors in all rooms are a very light colour – bleached pine – so it feels like the decorations and the apartment itself floats over New York`s Central Park. The built-in wraparound sofa gathers the 4 residents of the apartment – a couple and their children – around the solid walnut library that harbours a secret door. This is where the master bedroom and kids room are, protected from any sound that might disturb the calmness of the environment. The surround sound and clean modern lines of the surprising library is thought out to be an ode to the 80s but the perfect view drags us right into 2010 and its magnificent forms. Kids are spoiled with a gorgeous shade of blue and the retractable bed keeps everything hidden away until it`s time for the sweet dreams inspired by this beautiful home. The bathroom unveils a work of art tattooed on the ceiling – a perfect excuse to escape to another world. Stefan enlightens us :”I might describe the final result as having a monastery + cowboy ranch + 80s vibe… “ Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !

Stylish Transparent Pasha Chair, a Blend of Tradition and Novelty Posted: 20 Sep 2010 02:42 AM PDT You may remember a recent Freshome post featuring a similar project, the Ghost Chair. This particular furniture item was named Pasha Chair and comes from Pedrali, an Italian company promoting dynamic design. The transparent chair has a charming ethereal look which goes great in a modern interior. Its creators describe it as being a “synthesis between tradition and innovation”, as its shape is a classical one, while the materials from which it is made of (polycarbonate, glossy finish) and its overall see-through looks are contemporary. We really like the association of these transparent chairs with a flashy, strong color (the red cushion in the photo below for example). This mix can create an aesthetic and unexpected design effect within a room, adding personality. Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !

Spectacular Stone Summer Residence by the Sea Posted: 20 Sep 2010 01:15 AM PDT This stunning summer residence was designed by Jarmund/Vigsnæs AS Architects and is located in Vestfold, Norway. Perfectly integrated in its environment, this house seems carved in stone. According to the architects, this project had to obey strict environmental rules regarding the building’s color, shape and materials. Overall, we find the results to be truly spectacular and the views breathtaking. Here is more information: “The low elongated volume is cut into to allow for wind shielded outdoor areas, embraced by the house itself. These cuts also bring down the scale of the building, and together with the local variations of the section, make the building relate to the surrounding cliff formations. On the outer perimeter of terraces and pool, a glass fence also protects against wind, but allows for maximum view. The house is clad with Kebony wood, a sustainable process of treating the wood to allow for good durability towards the exposure to salt water.” We particularly like the infinity pool, which blends great with the the landscape. Impressive, wouldn’t you say?

The Wave In Vejle, a New Denmark Architectural Symbol Posted: 19 Sep 2010 10:12 AM PDT This daring and imposing architectural project named “The Wave In Vejle” comes from Henning Larsen Architects (a Danish company) and is located in Vejle, a picturesque town in Denmark. The four connected buildings are said to be in complete tune with the characteristics of the area. The wave shape couldn’t be more suited for a town that it is defined by its hills, the fjord, the bridge and the sea. Day or night, the building creates an appealing reflection on the surface of the sea, interesting to observe while taking a walk in the area. The imposing structure houses 140 apartments, with great views of the bay. Recently the architects received the LEAF award (residential building of the year 2010) for this project which we consider to be the new landmark for Vejle and Denmark.
