Posted: 07 Jun 2010 10:37 AM PDT The Zip-Up Chair is a cool piece of furniture designed by Kim In-bo. This chair was intended for small apartments that demand functional furniture, but I can also see it in a mansion. I’m pretty sure that a lot of people will call this idea as stupid or kitch but I see it as fun. Zip open, turn down a few swabs and park your posterior onto an impromptu stool. What do you think about this idea ? Cool or stupid ? – Via – YankoDesign |
The Vuzzle Chair by Christopher Daniel Posted: 07 Jun 2010 10:16 AM PDT The Vuzzle Chair by Christopher Daniel is made of 59 cushion cells that can be arranged according to ones moods. Inspired by the Voronoi diagram, each cushion has a neodymium magnet that can remove them and put them together easily to create a chair. You remove 13 cushions and the cube turns into chair to sit on. Each cushion has magnets under the surface which hold the whole structure together. Available in three different color patterns, Vuzzle Milk, Vuzzle Neat and Vuzzle Bloody Mary, the modular chair employs only 46 cells, while the other 13 cushions can be used as individual cushion/stool or footrest for the chair. – Via – Fubiz |
Small Wooden Storage Unit : Chin Up by Lisa Sandall Posted: 07 Jun 2010 09:04 AM PDT United Kingdom based furniture and product designer Lisa Sandall has created a number of wonderful furniture pieces in the last year. Her piece 'Chin Up' is a small wooden storage unit that will make you look twice because Lisa likes playing around with balance. It is fully free-standing, but appears to be on a lean. This is a great example of contemporary design with-a-twist. The design allows you to bend and kneel less when placing and removing books from the shelves. So simple, and yet genius. – Via – Muuuz |
Unique Desk Design : The Wave Desk by Robert Brou Posted: 07 Jun 2010 08:00 AM PDT Georgia-based designer and craftsman Robert Brou has designed the 'Wave' desk. A new 'Slice' technique has been used for creating the Wave desk. The design of the Wave includes a two-tower structure featuring towers sliced to create file folder storage with a drawer above. One of the towers has a small drawer that includes a pullout work surface on the top. Both the towers are clad in two and a half inch thick Poplar lumber carved as a random wavy pattern in the form of layers. Each of the layers has a three by four inch tall reveal, which eliminates the need to pull the drawer. The final design looks awesome, but what we do with it after two weeks when the dust is a really big problem ? |
