Two-story Penthouse in Taiwan Displaying Contemporary Layout and Design Posted: 20 Jun 2012 06:33 AM PDT Studio PMK + Designers envisioned a two-story penthouse in Kaohsiung, Taiwan entitled Lai Residence and developed for a young couple and their newborn daughter. Displaying a highly contemporary layout and design, the loft is centered around a double-height open plan living and dining area, with integrated kitchen appliances. The original lighting system along with the exposed pipes, steel poles and brick walls uncover the project’s industrial influences. With subtle color contrasts and an extensive use of white, brown and black, the flat is characterized by elegance and tastefulness. The living room is connected to a generous terrace, with great city views.A large staircase leads the way towards the second level, where the master bedroom, dressing room and office are located. Itaipava House Bordering And Encompassing Water Posted: 20 Jun 2012 03:13 AM PDT Architecture and the inhabitant’s needs meet on a riverbank in Itaipava, Brazil. Stretching alongside green waters, the residential project showcases two water features of its own – a pond that makes the terrace seem to float and an indoor pool that seems to be constructed from fairytale dust. I have never seen a space like this – a double-height spa/relaxation zone with inviting lounge beds, placed in front of a high stone fireplace. Easily connecting to the outside through large, part-glazed doors, this residence was designed for entertaining and sharing comfort and relaxation with friends. Naturally lit and reflecting in the pond, this luxurious space contrasts with the cozy living room, but share the same warming feature – the stone fireplace. Part of Brazilian studio Cadas Architecture‘s portfolio, this project shows how wood, glass, stone and natural daylight meet in a luscious landscape to offer the owner a splendid retreat from society. Futuristic Decors Showcased by New Syzygy Lab Office in Frankfurt Posted: 20 Jun 2012 02:01 AM PDT Syzygy Lab recently announced the opening of their highly modern office in Frankfurt, Germany. Here is some information from the press release we were sent: The significant free-form, designed by the famous design collective 3deluxe, primarily characterises the agency's entrance area and communicates both customers and employees its future oriented mission immediately upon entering. It unites mainly informal areas of work and thus offers visitors a first hand impression of life in the agency. The central functional element is the curved lounge area which integrates seating arrangements of various sizes for recreation and informal meetings as well as bigger conferences and presentations and is equipped with mobile work stations. The wall design of the free-form with its fine graphic perforations as well as larger cut-outs, behind which other functional areas of the office scape become visible, creates exciting perspectives and transparency. Following the creative and playful character of the office design, the interior is conceived as a multimedia field of experimentation for technical innovations and future applications. Employees can transfer new approaches, works in progress and inspiring ideas directly onto a media pin-board and project them onto the free-form, which is thus turned into an interactive playground and inspires employees and visitors of the agency alike. Following the advanced design of the work sphere, offices and conference rooms are defined by their open and generous style as well as their high degree of functionality. The lush planting of the office, visible through the perforated wall in various places, serves not only as an eye-catcher, but also as a "green lung", improving the air quality and the quality of stay. New Kempinski Ambience Hotel Displaying Traditional Indian Patterns Posted: 20 Jun 2012 12:08 AM PDT Kempinski Ambience Hotel is the latest hospitality project designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, soon to be opened near New Delhi, India (in July, 2012). We received a press release describing the project: HBA brings a fresh approach to design in the region with contemporary transitional fashions accented with subtle touches of re-interpreted Indian elements.Traditional patterns and customary Indian architectural details are spread throughout the property and the graphic elements of the main exterior façade are incorporated within the interior features of the hotel to create a unifying thread throughout the space. In order to create a space for the most sophisticated travelers that would also meet the needs of the Kempinski Ambience business clientèle. HBA used a palette that is both elegant and calm, relying on warm beiges and browns that are accented by splashes of rich Indian color tones including indigo blue, saffron yellow and vibrant reds.Cultural references are underlined by an art collection comprised of works by contemporary Indian artists, which in turn act as a highlight of the interior elements. The hotel will feature 480 rooms and suites, four restaurants and a bar, and state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities, including a Grand Ballroom accommodating up to 5,000 people, making it the ideal destination for leisure and MICE travelers alike. The property also boasts an extensive spa and fitness center with a sauna and hammam and two swimming pools. How would you comment on its overall design?
