| Timberland New Store in London Reflecting the Brand’s Environmental Values Posted: 13 Jun 2011 06:52 AM PDT Checkland Kindleysides were recently challenged by Timberland ( the famous outdoor clothing sports brand) to create their new store in Westfield London. The original project communicates the brand’s personality as well as its environmental values. Here are some words from the designers: “Taking cues from the Timberland logo and the dynamic tree-like roof supports which form the architecture of the centre, we created a lattice of reclaimed timber branches that stretch the full 25m length of the side elevation, the 11m storefront and the 8.5m height of the store, wrapping the store in the brand's iconic logo. The façade creates such a strong brand statement that the fret cut steel signage merely acts as endorsement that this is Timberland. This store provides a perfect example of what we stand for as a brand," commented Ales Kernjak, Head of Store Design and Visual Marketing. "It reflects our heritage in craftsmanship, our relationship to the outdoors, as well as our environmental values in action.” Timberland fans across the world, what is your verdict?

| Original Furniture Set: 3D Coffee Table and Stools Posted: 13 Jun 2011 03:54 AM PDT
Martin Gallagher designed a coffee table set that we find clever and practical. Here is the press release we received from the project developers: “3D is a neat contemporary coffee table and stools based on solids and voids, cylindrical forms and modern architecture using high quality modern materials and vivid upholstery. Designed for modern living where space is of the up most importance, 3D is a modular piece of furniture. Its height and overall scale can be modified by adding or reducing the amount of plywood layers within the piece. The stools come upholstered in a wide palette of colors, but the option of having Birch plywood coloured seats is also available so that each stool can be used as side a table, therefore maximizing the design to its full potential“. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget we are looking forward to your opinions concerning every design we post on Freshome.

| A Lighting Design Inspired by a Famous Airship: Zeppelin Posted: 13 Jun 2011 02:23 AM PDT
Zeppelin is an original lighting design created by company Integral Studio Vinaccia for the brand called Pulsar. According to the information sent by the designers, “the entire Zeppelin collection is available in natural ceramic or glazed painted in eight different colors, both opaque and shiny. The body lamp is made of 100% ceramic, which due to their very nature and production process are sustainable and ecological material. The raw materials of these ceramic pieces come from the earth itself (clay) which, together with the water and heat used in the firing process, form a natural, high quality product. We gave the name Zeppelin to the lamp (in honor of the famous airships), because it was amusing to see that a relatively heavy object like the Zeppelin, seemed so light once hung. Thanks to its RGB LED, using a remote control, one can change the color and the intensity of light for the whole range“. The lamp bodies are available in two sizes: one with a length of 130 cm and a diameter of 35 cm, and a smaller version with 100 cm in length and a diameter of 25 cm. What is your opinion on this “unearthly” design?

| Beautiful Home Located at the Foot of the Alps: House Haller Posted: 13 Jun 2011 12:37 AM PDT
House Haller was designed by Haller Jürgen together with Peter Plattner and is located in Mellau, Austria. According to the architects, “the owner's specifications were a house combining living and working areas under one roof. The entire design of this compact house conforms to the location and it was built into the slight decline. As the hill side of the house is embedded, the east facing cellar area could be naturally illuminated and used as an office, for example. This office has direct access, via covered outdoor steps between the main entrance and the carport. Due to its ideal positioning, the building profits from the optimal use of the mountain sunshine. In spite of being highly original and very chunky, looking almost fortified, the building does not appear out-of-place in its surroundings. The nearby 150 year old, heritage-protected, typical Bregenzerwald farmhouse is reflected in the Haller house.” We were delighted by this home’s interior design, featuring minimalist arrangements and an overall warm and inviting atmosphere.
