A Practical Alternative to the Apple Finger Slide: The Idoormat Posted: 11 May 2011 07:05 AM PDT An Apple enthusiast and a tidiness maniac as well? Here’s a design that will suit both your needs. The Idoormat is not actually an Apple design, but was given this name by Technabob due to its obvious resemblance with the “I gadgets”. This is not just a welcoming mat, but a practical product that will surely convince you to clean your shoes the modern way: from right to left, in a gentle stroke. But when holding an Iphone in your hands while standing on this mat, wouldn’t it be hard to coordinate your finger and foot in order to make the same move? We absolutely love this simple, yet crazy design and think it would be a great way to add a welcoming touch to your home. The witty product is available for purchase online here, for 19,90 Euros. Yes, the manufacturer is German, but why should that spoil the fun of having yet another “I-something” in our homes?

Geometry and Architecture Combined in a Beautiful House in Argentina Posted: 11 May 2011 05:10 AM PDT Architect Juan Carlos Ricardes completed an intriguing house design in Argentina, which impresses due to its unique exterior. A massive white concrete volume with an original geometry, unexpected entrances and asymmetrically placed windows invites guest to contemplate further. The facade of the house is truly mesmerizing and includes the main house entrance, the pathway to the garage, a glimpse of the balcony located at the top floor. The circular roof with solar panels provides that extra energy the home needs. Embedded in a rich natural environment, the crib looks like a noble retreat and takes advantage of some amazing views. The interior is tasteful and welcoming, featuring vivid design elements and interesting artworks. Large windows ensure a good indoor outdoor connection and reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day. We invite you to a fun virtual tour of this incredible house, at the end of which we would love your reactions.

Reinventing Nature Escapes: Another Picnic Table Posted: 11 May 2011 03:44 AM PDT Wouter Nieuwendijk and Jair Straschnow came up with an original way to celebrate a nature gathering. Their design collaboration resulted in ‘Another Picnic Table’, a project that brings together comfort and functionality. According to the designers, “this new variation of the iconic picnic table is trying to tackle two issues: splitting the bench into separate seats results in easier access, but also offers another option- a more relaxed low seating position. While there are numerous benches for public space, easy chairs are never to be found in parks and leisure areas, where one would expect.” Made of bamboo, the table has a natural appearance and could fit perfectly in any environment. Have a look at the photos below in order to understand what it offers and give us your opinion below.

An Attic Penthouse Beyond Compare in Gothemburg, Sweden Posted: 11 May 2011 02:15 AM PDT Here is an amazing apartment that we are certain will not leave you indifferent. After all, who can resist a fresh, spacious loft, conveniently situated in a beautiful historic building and tastefully displaying exposed beams, a lovely chimney, lavish cuisine, tasteful arrangements and views of Gothenburg’s red and green rooftops? Found on Alvhem, the crib you are about to discover is structured on two levels, one of which is actually an expansion of the initial apartment and is situated on the top building floor. The views in the “attic” are absolutely fantastic and the interior design is flawless. The bottom level features three rooms plus kitchen and can be characterized by bright colors, combined with an excellent dim lighting scheme. The open plan living room with rustic elements (beams and bricks) creates a highly welcoming environment for having friends over. One could say this apartment has it all; what’s your opinion?

Family Heaven Within Contemporary Walls: DG House by DOMB Architects Posted: 10 May 2011 08:00 AM PDT Occupying a surface of 660 square meters, the DG House by DOMB Architects is a simple contemporary residence built using materials like painted plaster, grey oak and glass. With a narrow facade and neighbouring a public park on the backside, the residence leaves the impression of a highly modern house with clean design lines. Two asymmetrical boxes connected through open staircases shape the layout of the house. The center of the residence is a double height space that brings the family together in a great and comfortable entertaining area. Double doors lead out to the pool and a long deck crosses the entire length of the house, from the entrance to the backside garden, visually connecting the spaces. Glass walls cleverly located offer a bright atmosphere and allow visual connection between the inside spaces. The private quarters of the house ensure the much needed quiet time for the adults on the ground floor, while the children’s rooms are situated on the first floor, where a private living room and independent bathroom ensure their independency from the rest of the house. The kitchen is connected to the dining room and the outside barbeque, making it easy for the family to enjoy their meals together. Other facilities were built in the basement for comfort, relaxation and entertainment: a screening room, fitness facilities and a studio. Having this much space and so many ways of enjoying family life must be a dream come true.
