| Colorful Art Instalation in WUHO Gallery, Along Hollywood’s Walk of Fame Posted: 16 Jan 2011 05:10 AM PST “Stay Down Champion, Stay Down” is an unusual art installation envisioned by Molly Hunker and Greg Corso from Studio Sports in Los Angeles. The installation currently adds vitality to the Woodbury University Hollywood Gallery (WUHO) and consists of a series of handmade tiles which create a unique undulating landscape: Considering the location of the WUHO gallery – along Hollywood Blvd's iconic walk of fame – Stay Down Champion, Stay Down focuses on the presence and interactivity of the ground plane. Comprised of a system of terra cotta tiles, the floor of the gallery breaks away from the planar to compose a flowing and colorful interior landscape. Together the contrast of the analog tiles and digital surface creates a compelling visual and spatial experience that rivals the lure of the historic sidewalk beyond the gallery. | Contemporary and Architectural Waste Collection Center Posted: 16 Jan 2011 01:38 AM PST An integrated waste collection center is cleverly hidden under a modern architectural manifesto in Huarte, Spain, near the French border. This was called the Manifesto Center and it stands tall to express an open mind to the visual impact of industrial buildings. Although the waste collection center is equipped with turbines, scrubbers and filters, both the interior and the exterior were designed to mimic the biological features of an animal. Being such a noisy building, architects Antonio Vaillo and Juan Luis Irigaray had to cover up the exterior with several layers of wall insulation. Covered with recycled aluminium foil, the center was given a strong colour and a modern treatment in order to highlight the environmental nature of the project. Covering 832 m², the Manifesto Center had a construction budget of over 1,000,000 dollars. Will this become a trend in the industrial sector? Via Muuuz
