Style and Glamour of a Hollywood Home: Sunset Plaza Residence Posted: 23 Dec 2010 03:25 AM PST Sunset Plaza Residence was designed by David Thompson and Kevin Southerland from Assembledge Architects and is located above the Sunset Strip in the famous Hollywood Hills. Just another proof that some people really don’t hold back when it comes to building their crib, this abode seems to have it all: an impressive and uncommon architecture, an infinity pool that dazzles the senses, floor to ceiling windows and to top it all, dramatic panoramic views of Los Angeles. Defying our common perception of a comfortable home, this 5,000 sq ft residence is built in a contemporary fashion and is opened to the surrounding landscape due to movable glass walls. Moreover, the L-shape ensures good natural lighting in every room of the house. This goes to show that aside from having a jaw-dropping appearance, Sunset Plaza also has sustainable features. The interiors are imposing and breathtaking, with a layout that proves high-class tastes while in the same time allowing the home to breathe. What do you think? Impressive enough for the Hollywood Hills? Ready for more amazing design ideas? Check below !

Enchanting Home in London with an Angelic Interior Design Posted: 23 Dec 2010 02:13 AM PST This beautiful home with wide open spaces on Portland Road in London`s Notting Hill was created by Michaelis Boyd Associates. It is part of a set of three eco-friendly constructions, each with elegant interiors, private decked roof terraces and modernist furniture. Each house is insulated to prevent heat loss and there are a few other features that insure comfort and a pleasant ambient: “super insulated walls are filled with shredded newspaper, heating and hot water is provided by 12 geothermal bore holes 65m deep, photovoltaic cells generate electricity to power the heat pumps, car charging points and grey water recycling systems. A milestone in sustainable contemporary living.” This particular residence has a gallant white based interior designed, accentuated by honey-coloured hardwood floors. Neutral coloured carpets can be found in every room. An open plan kitchen and a reception room welcome guests and family members once they walk through the door. Comfortable white sofas and beautiful white chairs make up the living space downstairs. Three bedrooms, all en suite, are located on the first floor of the home. The master bedroom, on the other hand, occupies almost half of the second floor, together with the master bathroom and a large, beautiful terrace allows expansive views of that corner of London. There is some good news for those who really want this incredible home: it`s for sale here for the price of £3, 250,000, that`s $ 5,220,000.

Peaceful Contemporary Retreat in Vancouver: The Hotchkiss Residence Posted: 22 Dec 2010 11:43 PM PST The Hotchkiss Residence was designed by Scott Edwards Architecture and is located in Vancouver, Washington. Developed in a sumptuous contemporary fashion, the home reigns over the Columbia river, taking full advantage of its views. The total surface of the building is 2,000 square feet (185 sqm), which is just enough for a retired couple to enjoy a peaceful and comfortable life. The living room is the focal point of the residence and is a definite eye-catcher. Dynamic and opened towards the river, it gives the owners a chance to feel the pulse of every new day while drinking coffee or relaxing near the fireplace. The living room is also highly modern, featuring minimalist furniture arrangements and vivid art works. We particularly like the kitchen/bar which brings a youthful feel to the place.
