| Diverse Mountain House with an Extreme Level of Comfort in Brazil Posted: 14 Nov 2010 03:00 AM PST When we think at a mountain house we tend to imagine a modest cottage, usually made of wood, with nothing inside but a cozy fire and simple furniture. This particular home comes from David Guerra Architecture and is located in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in a beautiful natural environment. But it definitely does not resemble a common and moderate mountain lodge, but more like an opulent contemporary residence. Designed to be a weekend family getaway, this home features generous verandas, a water mirror, a cascade and a pool. Here is more information from the architects: “All private and social areas were developed in one single level which faces the mountains. The verandas of these premises are turned to a grassy courtyard where the swimming pool with a deck, a douche, a water mirror and a cascade is located. The materials were chosen with the aim to combine beauty, snugness and ease of maintenance and to create a contrast between natural and technological materials such as reclaimed wood, stones, earthenware, bamboo, tile, fiber, metal, stainless steel, double glazed and laminated glass, glass tile, anodized aluminum, wood venetian and tecnocimento.” Even though this home houses plenty of modern items (the furniture, for example), it also has some charming rustic and natural elements which combine in creating a lovely home in a dream location.
