Intriguing Dear O’ Deer Planter Re-Shaping Perception of Everyday Things

ideas unusual decorating item Intriguing Dear O Deer Planter Re Shaping Perception of Everyday ThingsDelhi based duo Re-culture recently presented Dear O’ Deer, an intriguing ceramic planter that works on the juxtaposition of the dead and the living. The plant grows outwards from a ceramic deer skull to resemble the antlers of the deer. A lid and drain holes are strategically placed allowing the planter to be used as wall mount and as table top. The user can intervene in the dynamic growth process and play an important role in deciding the aesthetics of this object. Dear O’ Deer is available in three different finishes: glazed matte white stoneware, fired terracotta and matte gold. The project was exhibited as a finalist in the Unique Youngstar Competition hosted by the German Design Council at Spoga Gafa 2014 in Cologne, Germany.

Re-culture is the result of the collaboration between Rohan Chhabra & Kriti Chaudhary. Rohan has a background in industrial & fashion design, and Kriti Chaudhary is a ceramicist and product designer. As a team, they believe in ideas that are generated through the design process and culture at large. In their products, they aim to achieve a combination of enlightenment and enchantment by “re-culturing” the language of everyday things. Projecting personalities onto inanimate objects to encapsulate a sense of playfulness and ambiguity.
