Inspired by the posture used in horseback riding, Christian Sjöström has designed Camou, an everyday-use chair emphasizing on movement, variation and control of the body. The chair is designed in such a way that the user is "forced" to move, through the rocking function, but at the same time is in control and can change posture any time he or she wishes to. The designer explains that the horseback riding position is ergonomic for the body, taking the burden off the back and muscles. The wide back rest of the seating unit gives a steady support for a more relaxed posture.

The ability to move creates a variety of sitting positions and the user is in charge of the body. The form of the seating unit is a result of function, material and ergonomics- an important part of the design process. Camou Chair has its starting-point in a theoretical analysis investigating and questioning the standard often used in developing chairs. The result has an organic shape, which creates alternative ways of how to sit in everyday situations. The steel tube and the transparent 3D-textile create interesting visual effects; the design melts in its environment, yet its sculptural character makes it noticeable in any modern scheme. This four-bedroom Victorian residence in Paddington, Sydney, Australia has been recently converted into a sophisticated family home with contemporary amenities. Renovated by architect Luigi Rosselli, the residence features 231 square meters of living space, as well as inviting outdoor entertaining areas, a gas-heated swimming pool and off-street parking for two cars. The lush landscaping at the rear provides a verdant backdrop to family life. Damp, dark and introverted, the initial home on the site was given a vibrant contemporary personality, while staying true to its classic origins.

According to the architects, color and light were used abundantly in the conversion process: “Introducing some fluid lines with a light filled stairwell at the center and a sun drenched kitchen and living at the rear, the new configuration of old and new proves an enriching experience. Accustomed to muted tones, and a subtle palette, a much needed spring was put in our step by the bold use of colors, delphinium blues, cadmium yellows, beautiful artworks, exotic patterns and rich textures carefully selected by the interior designer in residence, Heidi Correa.” How do you find the outcome? German architect Werner Sobek lives in a home that is fully modular and composed of 100% recycled materials. He calls the structure R128 produces no emissions and generates all it's energy through solar cells. However the real showstopper in this home are the highly-insolated glass walls that cover all the sides.
