| Family Home in Slovakia Paying Tribute to Comfortable Modern Living: Villa M Posted: 28 Oct 2014 06:23 AM PDT The architects at Atrium transformed an existing building on a harsh terrain into a contemporary residence able to respond to the growing needs of a family in Kosice, Slovakia. Villa M is structured on three levels and displays a powerful modern geometry. Two terraces, each one oriented in a different direction, contribute to a good indoor-outdoor connection, while better defining the architectural language of the buildings. The black silhouette with large expanses of glass stands out in its neighborhood, yet offers a high level of privacy due to its design. The back of the house is linked to a beautiful wooden deck, offering opportunities for spending time outdoors, in a healthy environment. Step inside and you will discover spacious interiors, enlivened by an abundance of natural lighting and added a breezy feel through generously-sized curtains. A color palette in gray, beige, brown and white ensures a feeling of calmness, gently disrupted by a few more daring hues sprinkled here and there. Bedrooms are hosted on the upper level, offering expansive views of the surroundings. How would you personally characterize the atmosphere exhibited by this house in Slovakia? | Luxurious Modern Interior Scheme Uncovered by The Appealathon House in Australia Posted: 27 Oct 2014 11:57 AM PDT Appealathon House in Perth, Western Australia is a compact modern residence developed by Australian home builder Grandwood by Zorzi. The architectural language of the project is defined by simple lines, order and proportion. A minimalist exterior palette in gray and white is extended indoors, where things seem to really come to life: “The ground floor Guest Suite is complete with built in robe and luxurious ensuite. A unique entry opens to a stone laid floor extending through the main living areas. A wall of windows opens to the north bringing an abundance of natural light into all levels of the home.” Frameless stacking doors open out to the terrace, thus ensuring an optimum connection with the outdoors. Access to the upper level is provided by an open tread timber staircase with an artificial pond beneath. This unconventional passageway is one of the focal points of the overall design, visually connecting all the other elements together. According to the official description provided by the builders, at the top of the stairs a bridge divides the Master and Junior suites. “The bridge, with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooks the large dining area and external alfresco. A functional study/activity room prefaces the entry to the two Junior Suites, one with its own ensuite. A private balcony adjoins the activity room.” Next up, the master suite, especially envisioned to encapsulate the feeling of an exclusive hotel. Enjoy the virtual tour!
