Imagine coming home at dusk to this marvelous contemporary home! With an illuminated facade composed of sleek design lines, this 7,168 square feet villa in Hermosillo, Mexico, is a private home holding great inspiration. Designed by Imativa Arquitectos and photographed by Alexander Potiomkin, the private property known as Residencia R35 rises three levels up to accommodate a very specific circulation - service, social and private – encouraged by the site’s topography. Capturing views of treetops and the minimalist interior courtyard through dark-framed floor-to-ceiling windows, the architecture was imagined elegant and contemporary.

Displayed in white concrete, stone, metal and wood in a predominantly sophisticated manner, both interiors and outdoors have been designed to make the most of available space. You can see how the interior garden and pool play a key role in connecting the private interior spaces with an outdoor space that feels secluded. Transparency and a good use of materials help the home integrate in its surroundings while offering a comfortable cluster of rooms inside.

Interesting Home Extension in London Featuring Brick Walls and Sliding Glass Doors

Commissioned to provide a new kitchen and living room for a couple whose children had recently moved out, London studio Tigg Coll Architects implemented an original home extension. This addition connects the main building with the garden and features sliding glass doors which retract into brick walls: "Even though we wanted the new extension to really feel contemporary in kind and use, we also wanted to use a material that would hyperlink this new aspect back to the history of the current building and area as a complete. If done properly, brickwork adds movement and texture, and will stand the test of time", " stated Tigg Coll.

An original personality was imprinted in the new home extension :””We like the idea that although the indoor and outdoor spaces are linked, they still remain different and the brick threshold helps to emphasize this.” As you step inside, you are greeted by a row of bricks, marking the indoor-outdoor boundary. Inside and out, the architects employed large white porcelain tiles, creating bold color contrasts with the neighboring yard and with other materials from the main building. Gavin Maddock Design Studio completed the development of Pearl Bay Residence, an impressive retreat located 90kms north of Cape Town, South Africa and bordered by a nature reserve adjoining the ocean. A modern signature within the budget and Mediterranean style influences were the two main requirements mentioned in the clients’ brief. The result is a rectangular double storey structure of 600 square meters, accommodating three bedrooms, four bathrooms, generous living and dining areas both inside and out, a gallery, casual living room, a study, decks, terraces and balconies.

Other architecture challenges were successfully met: “The building had to be grounded, therefore it needed to be vertical, not horizontal. Both the front and rear pavilions are two storeys and the windows are sliced through to the parapet to emphasize the verticality. The two pavilions are joined by the gallery, which is a single storey element where the horizontal lateral wall again emphasizes the verticality of the main building.” As you can see in the photos below, every interior frames mesmerizing ocean views, adding up to the perpetual holiday feel this place inspires.
