Skilled Modern Design Composition and Remarkable Views: Ciel de Paris Restaurant Posted: 19 Jul 2012 07:41 AM PDT Located on the 56th floor of the famous Montparnasse Tower, at a 210 meter-hight, restaurant Ciel de Paris was designed by NoĆ© Duchaufour-Lawrance and comes with a sweeping view of the the city below. The comfortable and contemporary design invites guests in a setting that is difficult to forget. Dim lighting is spread through the restaurants, from behind the circular mirrors on the ceiling, the edges of the room and from beneath the curved central bar. Here are further captivating details from the architects: “From the bay windows to the central bar, depending on the aura of the mirrors, the skilled composition of the sombre reflections strengthens and transforms perspectives. The view becomes space; space becomes the view. The golden glints of the City of Light bounce off the sensual curves and materials. Paris is sparkling and all of a sudden the tower is more desirable. This primarily touristic venue has become welcoming and ethereal, a pleasurable experience designed for everyone.” Does this look like a place you would like to dine in? Light-Defined Suite Of Spaces Overlooking Australian Bushland Posted: 19 Jul 2012 06:33 AM PDT Occupying over 2,000 square meters on a Brisbane property, the Fig Tree Pocket House 2was first imagined by a family in search of their ideal home as a modest two story residence embedded in the sloping north facing Australian bushland. They commissioned Shane Plazibat Architects to design the house according to their needs and this resulted in a concrete framed, timber cladded modern house. Architects describe the way this residential construction displays its features: “The house is organized into 2 zones in section, carport, arrival and sleeping upstairs and living, pool and courtyard downstairs. An internal 2 storey linear bamboo garden traversing the length of the house along the east-west axis creates a reference point within the plan. The garden also allows for the creation of 1 room deep planning on both levels to enhance cross ventilation and access to daylight.” Three north-facing bedrooms lie on top of a perfectly manicured set of interior gardens adorning the downstairs living areas and helping with cross ventilation. Sustainable, green and modern, this house serves as example for those looking to include modern sustainability features in their own dream home. Tantalizingly Tactile Turkish Rugs by Stepevi Posted: 19 Jul 2012 04:37 AM PDT Just one look at these luxurious rugs and I immediately want to run my fingers through the deep pile. Manufactured in Isparta, a southern Turkish town synonymous with carpet production, these exquisite rugs are from the impressive portfolio of Stepevi, a family enterprise that was founded in 1919 in Istanbul. With a strong focus on the concept of refined modern luxury and innovative craftsmanship, the Turkish company has managed to create a decadent yet understated collection of rugs that will have no problem taking centre stage in any contemporary interior. Stepevi’s reputation, experience and expertise in the field has lead to the company working in collaboration with award-winning and internationally acclaimed designers such as Ora Ito, who designed the Parquet rug below. This may be the most eye-catching and unusual rug in the collection but there are certainly plenty of options available, all of which add a sense of flamboyance and artistic practicality to an interior. Do these rugs make you want to roll around on them and run your fingers through the pile too? We think they look might cosy! Clever Anamorphic Typography Project for Interiors with a Twist Posted: 19 Jul 2012 03:33 AM PDT We ran across a simple, yet “heavy” interior design idea that could be applied to any room in search of personality. Thomas Quinn painted letters above his parents’ garage, delivering the message: “Face reality as it is”. From the perfect, steady message, it is enough to move a step back to see how the perspective changes, delivering a different space composition. In this case, irony prevails: you can never truly know what how reality is defined. What seems perfectly clear at one point, can be shattered the next. We love this creative anamorphic typography project found on Illusion.scene360 and we believe similar messages can created, with just as much depth. In case you find this project as interesting as we do, be sure to check out the rest of the related posts we featured on Freshome: the amazing Floating Indoor DeLorean Car, these creative installations by Joseph Egan and Hunter Thomson or the Anamorphic Illusions by Swiss artist Felice Varini. Cloud-Shaped Extrusion as Contemporary Annex to Edwardian Home in Australia Posted: 19 Jul 2012 01:21 AM PDT Adding a contemporary addition to an Edwardian home can be a challenging task. Cloud House is a project envisioned by McBride Charles Ryan in Melbourne, Australia and consists of a renovation and extension of a century-old home. According to the architects, “the street facade has been left to demonstrate the clients' respect for the evolution of the character of the area and the modest street alteration belies the extent of the comprehensive internal renovation work. The spaces within the original structure are largely white in color, united by exotic floral hallway carpet. This journey through the space is followed by encountering a disintegrated red-colored 'box'. This is the kitchen, at the heart of the property, which acts as a bridge linking the major spaces. A cloud-shaped extrusion is the unexpected final space.” The unusual design of the living room creates a dramatic interior language and a highly original space for various social events.
