Cozy, Nature-Embedded Home in Norway: Buholmen Cabin Posted: 11 Jul 2012 01:49 AM PDT Located on the Buholmen Peninsula in Norway, this waterfront cabin designed by Oslo-based architecture firm Skaara Arkitekter AS boasts 1,076 square feet of inviting living space. Its exterior is defined by a pine facade and a moss roof, capturing the natural colors of its environment. According to the architects, “the cottage replaces an old cabin and is supplemented with a new outhouse and jetty. The buildings’ two volumes separate living from sleeping areas, and create a protected patio which gives shelter from different wind conditions. A fan-shaped plan opens the cluster towards the south. The southernmost wing contains the private zone with modest sleeping cabins. The east wing consists of a split-level open living/kitchen area with views across the inlet towards Jomfruland“. We don’t know about you guys, but we would leave out the word “modest”, when describing anything related to the design of this cozy, nature-embedded, original waterfront home.

Built with Respect for Local Architecture: Elegant LINEA PIU Boutique in Mykonos Posted: 10 Jul 2012 04:01 PM PDT With a design paying tribute to the history and architecture of the idyllic island of Mykonos, Greece, the LINEA PIU Boutique envisioned by Kois Associated is visually captivating to say the least. The recently launched boutique (located in the heart of Chora village) accommodates some of the highest end women's wear brands in the luxury retail market like Chanel, Tom Ford, John Galliano and Blumarine, and will probably become a major “tourist attraction” in no time. If there is one thing we highly appreciate when it come to this project, is the architects’ respect for local architecture and surroundings. We got used to highly modern designs depersonalizing the feel of a place and we would hate to see that happen to the beautiful scenery of the Greek Islands. The Linea Piu Boutique showcases traditional white walls inside and out, a design element that also helps emphasize on the clothing items put on display. Needless to say, we look forward to your opinions regarding this project. Presenting The Luxury High Performance Sport Stig Chair Posted: 10 Jul 2012 07:34 AM PDT We were thrilled to receive photos of The Stig Chair, the latest in the line of high performance luxury sport furniture from Veraseri Designs. This exquisite chair that can be used at home, at the office or for traveling was inspired by the Stig – a character in the British motoring television show Top Gear – and gathers materials like recycled steel pipe, yellow pine, deer leather and stainless steel. It took over a year for the chair to be created by designer Adam Krehbiel and here is how the studio describes the product that constructs their debut in the high performance sport luxury furniture field: “The Stig chair is equipped with two fast connect tube lines that are universal for every Stig, one for Nitrogen out gassing, and the larger for unprocessed minced raw Pork. The seating device also features push-rod suspension as not to jar your Stig during transportation and charging, an event that could prove explosive. Stigs from a Stig farm are vulnerable during the period of charging and outgassing, fluid and gas levels inside the Stig change and can become unstable and potentially explosive. The seating unit is as well prepared for such an event in the very rare case that your Stig for some reason explodes. The Chair has been coated with a special material produced and applied by the Line-X Protective Coatings Corp. This material chosen specifically for its durability and blast aversion. The coating can be hosed down if needed and resists 9mm small arms fire. It also sports gel-cushioned pads upholstered in Deer leather, which was harvested from a deer hit by the designer's car. The frame of the seating device is made from 4130 alloy steel tubes, recycled from the frames of a number of Nascar Stock Car crashes.” Measuring 52"x 23"x 39", the new Stig Chair is priced at $11,000.00.
