Virgin Atlantic teamed up with VW + BS studio to shape a new experience for passengers riding the airline 30 000 feet in the air. The first time the new upper class bar and cabin enchanted its guests was this spring, on a route from London to New York. This new aircraft hospitality space concept was created to encourage social interaction between passengers in an innovative atmosphere built for a plane with the strictest safety regulations. Virgin Atlantic’s New Upper Class Bar And Cabin is the sophisticated result of creative thinking based on giving the design studio free hand to redesign one of Virgin’s planes.

A futuristic design like this one, influenced by the angled positioning of interior spaces, creates a unique set of social spaces, while the espresso colored leather seats offer a comfortable place to rest. Take a virtual tour of the plane and study design lines and colors, then imagine how the RGB lighting effects create different moods. Have you seen better interior aircraft design?

Nestled in a Lush Forest in Pennsylvania: The Seidenberg House

modern house Pennsylvania 1 Nestled in a Lush Forest in Pennsylvania: The Seidenberg House

The Seidenberg House, designed by Metcalfe A&D, is a remodeling project of an existing mid-century dwelling. located in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The main objective when building this contemporary home was to develop a nature embedded residence, reminiscent of playful childhood times: “MA&D reconstructed this mid-century kit house, taking advantage of its location by creating a bedroom nestled in the treetops. A glass connector bridge links the bedroom to the rest of the house. This house reflects our focus on play and romanticism. Trees and bridges evoke peace, solitude and memories of the escapes of childhood.” From where we are standing, the design of this home is partially youthful, partially elegant and sober. The interiors display a minimalist approach, spiced up with wooden details, which add a welcoming feel. Enjoy the virtual tour and tell us what you believe are the details that make this crib inviting.

Floor Levels Alternating Between House And Garden

Los Molles House by dRN Arquitectos 1 Floor Levels Alternating Between House And Garden

Located in Cachagua, Chile, this volumetric residence did not benefit from ocean views – so Santiago-based studio dRN Arquitectos designed the structure to open towards a tree cluster and the coastal hills to the east. The 2,800 square foot Los Molles House proves to be a beach house without direct or visual access to the beach, encouraging the architecture to make the most of its location. Architects describe the floor plan as a liaison between the interior and exterior spaces: “The plot is divided in five parallel strips, occupying the site in its full length. The interior programs of the house are organized in two bars, divided by a third strip of garden of four meters of width.

This scheme of garden-house-garden-house-garden alternates interior and exterior spaces, which are placed in different levels of the topography so that the roof of one volume can be use as a terrace by the volume above. This simple fragmentation of site and program, and the definition of different levels, produces equivalence between inside and outside spaces; parallel interior and exterior connections: encouraging a more casual life in the outdoors.” During the winter, the second floor becomes the center of the house, the rest of the spaces being closed to shape a more introvert lifestyle. Perfect for all weather and using only what is necessary – these are definitory traits for dream houses.

PAS House Skateboard House 2 Passion, Profession And Fun Shaping The Skateboard House

Malibu, California, is home to an interesting residential project – the PAS House/ Skateboard House. As you might guess from the name and photos, this unique space was designed to be both a modern home and a collection of skateboard-ready surfaces both indoor and outdoor. Built for Pierre Andre Senizergues (PAS), a former World champion, Pro Skater and owner of a well-known skateboard footwear and apparel company, the Skateboard House encompasses all the owner’s interests. Created by skateboarder and designer Gil Lebon Delapointe and Los Angeles-based architect Francois Perrin, this customized home will be placed at the top of the Malibu hills, so it’s a mixture of views over the Pacific and innovative interior design. Separated into three programs- one containing the living, dining and kitchen areas, another one sheltering the bedroom and bathroom and the third one dedicated entirely to skating, the house will feature skate-able areas throughout. Integrated in a curved wall, the kitchen on one side and the sitting area on the other shape a hybrid between living, working and having fun. This dynamic home complements the owner’s lifestyle in stead of changing it. How would your house look like depending on your hobbies?

Ultimate Art Studio: Bridge Studio’s Saltbox House by Saunders Architecture

Having a remote workplace, somewhere in the middle of nature is something many people dream about. Dramatically located on a steep hillside, near an inland pond in Newfoundland, Canada, Bridge Studio's Saltbox House was designed by Saunders Architecture and serves as a place of inspiration for accomplished artists to generate works of art. Here is more from the architects: “The first impression of the Bridge Studio is its abstract quality. From the side elevation, it appears as a windowless wood-clad parallelogram, hovering above the landscape, propped up by four piers and connected by a sixteen-foot bridge to the adjacent hillside. As one approaches the three hundred and twenty square foot studio, it becomes more transparent – with a generous glass entry and a large square window at the other end of the room“. The unusual art studio is composed of two levels, connected by stairs. A wood-burning stove and a large desk facing a generous window ensure a proper environment for unleashed creativity.

Environmentally Conscious Australian Home Built Using Reclaimed Wood

Storrs Road Residence by Tim Stewart Architects 1 Environmentally Conscious Australian Home Built Using Reclaimed Wood

Surrounded by an 18 hectare property, the Storrs Road Residence in the small town of Peachester, Australia, displays a single story architectural body emerged from the original building mixed with modern design to shape the evolution story behind this now contemporary farmhouse. Rising from an orchard-defined surrounding, the residence “aims to reflect in miniature the site as a whole and its history.” The old existing dam – once the center of entertainment for kids – was integrated into the structure by connecting it to a pond in front of the house. Wrapping around a central courtyard, the living spaces were designed to be somehow part of the garden, creating a surprising connection with the help of modern technologies. This is how sustainability became part of the project, as Tim Stewart Architects describe it: “The home itself is far more environmentally conscious than its predecessor, with low energy lighting predominant, solar water heating, over 60 000 liters of water storage, and built with timber taken from the site and from fire breaks cut through the bushland. The timber was milled and finished on site and makes up all of the exposed timber as well as the flooring and much of the sub structure. The house is a reflection in miniature of the workings, life, and history of the farm and the family that continue to take enjoy its offerings.
