Prepared to have your mind blown. Filip Dujardin‘s set of structurally impossible architecture photographs will have you looking at every detail in search of those details that are basically implausible. Working with a set of photos of real buildings in and around Ghent, Belgium, and using digital collaging techniques, the photographer created a mind-dazzling collection of photos entitled “Fictions“. Filip Dujardin studied history of art at the University of Ghent, specializing in architecture and now works as an independent photographer. His work on this project expresses the intricacy of architecture while pushing the limits of reality well beyond the immediate visual effect. Transforming existing buildings into fictional structures, Filip took out details and added some unusual ones instead. How many can you spot?

| Exceptional Alpine Ski Lodge In The French Alps Posted: 14 Feb 2012 04:15 AM PST
Combine spectacular surroundings and love for modern architecture and you end up with the stunning Chalet Béranger. Located in a wonderful French ski resort – St Martin de Belleville – this comforting permanent residence is home to 5,700 square feet of sleek and chic modern interior spaces spread over three levels. The village nestled in the middle of Les 3 Vallées in the French Alps ensures this particular cottage gets the best views and a lot of fresh air. The comfort of contemporary interior design was merged with a traditional exterior only to construct a wood and stone dream home.
Completed in December 2011, this stunning alpine ski lodge was designed by French designer and interior architect Noé Duchaufour Lawrance, who describes the inspiration at the base of this unusually comfortable style: "Far from the geometric construction methods of a traditional chalet, the interior architecture of this family home is a domestic landscape whose forms emerge from the ground like small functional mountains rising from a valley. Resolutely fluid and modern, the result is a set of lines and organic forms composed around a wooden ribbon. A large, main room is set above the whole construction, defining the central point of the chalet where the family comes together around a warm hearth."

| Fresh Cube-Inspired Alma Armchair by Lavernia & Cienfuegos Posted: 14 Feb 2012 03:13 AM PST
Trying to find a special correlation between different elements that make up a chair, Valencia-based design studio Lavernia & Cienfuegos studied shape, form and function and came up with a sleek, cube-resembling design for their new Alma Armchair. Part of the new Signature Collection Koo International, this supportive contemporary armchair encompasses two volumes that can combine different colors and materials for both indoor and outdoor use. Covered in polyethylene fabric – fantastic stain, sunlight and abrasion resistant fiber – the Alma Armchair comes in a variety of colors and in two versions. The interior version is fully upholstered, while the outdoor Alma has a plastic body accompanied by a fabric seating cube. The two colors used in defining each element challenge the design to offer a bold, modern piece of furniture that is not only functional but also beautifies the surrounding space. Where would you use an Alma Armchair and what colors would you choose?

| Historical Building in Sicily Turned into Contemporary Hotel: Villa Carlotta Posted: 14 Feb 2012 01:35 AM PST
A historical building located in Ragusa, Sicily was recently turned into a contemporary hotel by studio Architrend Architecture.Villa Carlotta is the result of a series of interventions that aimed at providing a comfortable living space for visitors, as well as maintaining the historical characteristics of the existing building. According to the architects, the work was characterized by “the use of natural materials placed in relation with the traditional materials present in the old rural building. A purposefully declared material dialog that gives a late 1800′s façade to the iron and glass volume, making it the pivot between the recovery and new construction. The restaurant inside the steel and glass structure with exposed beams in plywood faces onto the large garden with pool, opening itself up to the territory.” An interesting restoration project, wouldn’t you agree?

| Redefining Spaces With Astounding Anamorphic Illusions Posted: 13 Feb 2012 10:40 AM PST
Space composition as seen from a single vantage point can offer surprising points of view. These Anamorphic Illusions by Swiss artist Felice Varini capture a mind-opening spectacle of geometry applied to three dimensional spaces. Based on a complex study of perspective, all the Anamorphic Illusions were created by the artist as part of a series of spaces. A simple change of perspective reveals the stunning works and gives depth to the space. Galleries, staircases, walkways, rooms, lounges or residential spaces – all can be adorned with colorful geometric shapes that alter the space in an unconventional way. By generating geometric shapes that do not exist in reality, the artist strived to create these stunning artworks that took 30 months to complete. Working with 3D installations since 1979, the artist has a lot of experience that can be clearly seen in all the installations. Look at the photos and enjoy the different vantage points that allow you to see the installations from the angles that compose the shapes and compare them with the final result that gives the whole thing a new perspective.
