Elegant and Colorful Chairs Inspired by Diverse Human Personalities: Individuale Posted: 31 Jan 2012 01:33 AM PST We received a unique chair collection from Life Given A Shape that we would love to share further. Here is the description we were sent from the project developers: “The inspiration for Individuale came from our observation of the interplay of people, personalities and characters that colour our lives. Sitting with friends, family or complete strangers, we were amazed by the diversity of their identities and the unique attributes they brought to the table. Through verbal and non verbal interaction, these characters exhibited such varied traits, from confidence to extroversion while highlighting social roles much like in a family unit. This very basic idea of diversity in humans inspired Life Given A Shape to translate these observations into our collection. Therefore the concept of different personalities and functions is embodied in Individuale, where each chair brings to the table unique attributes and a distinct usability creating together a harmonious environment.

Family Home Displaying a Spectacular Design in Australia: Patane Residence Posted: 30 Jan 2012 11:12 AM PST Patane Residence was designed by the architects at bureau^proberts and is located in Newmarket, Queensland, Australia. According to the official project description we were sent, “the home was designed for a young family and occupies the crest of a hill facing south towards the Brisbane city skyline and Mount Coot-tha. A series of connected pavilions perched on solid concrete platforms encourage exploration and interaction whilst portraying a sense of permanency and refuge. The concrete construction enhances a sensation of intransience the client desired, while timber elements re-interpret the craftsmanship of Queensland home construction, responding to the suburban context of Newmarket's 19th and 20th century dwellings. The home is intended to conjure summer memories of time spend in the cool, shaded spaces found under the homes of our childhood. Visitors are welcomed onto the middle level of the home. This transparent platform encourages family activity through connection between living space, play space and the street. Private spaces of the home are separated between the basement and upper level”.[Photography by Jon Linkins]
