Welcome to a recently built modern villa found on Residence.se, that features an inviting pool and great views of the Stockholm inlet. The plastered facade along with the numerous windows give a sober modern impression to the exterior of the residence. With a total living area of 227 square meters (five bedrooms and three bathrooms), this place is perfect for a large family. The interiors all give away a feeling of space, while the generously sized windows allow natural light inside and connect the house with the outdoors. The living room has an open and airy floor plan with exit to a large balcony all along the southern facade. Sophisticated lighting details, modern furniture elements and subtle color accents that do a great job contrasting the plastered white walls set the tone for this elegantly-designed villa. A while back, we presented this original shelving idea on Freshome here, and got a pretty good response. The Comic Book Shelves designed by Oscar Nuñez are now available for purchase on the US Market. “Previously a commission piece, we worked with Oscar directly to develop his design for a broader market after he won our Creative Shelving Contest“, explained the people at Groopti, a company with a mission to dedicate themselves to helping young designers learn, develop, and share. With an original and fun design, these elegant, yet playful books shelves can be a great addition for any interior decor with a strong personality. There are two versions available for purchase: the smaller-sized shelf (19.3″ x 19.3″ x 9.8″ ) costs $149, while the slightly larger version(40.9″ x 9.8″ x 22.8″ ) can be bought at $249. After seeing the Twenty Five Lusk Lounge in San Francisco, designed by CCS Architecture, this amazing Los Altos Hills Residence proves that the architects have an eye for fine details. The San Francisco-based studio CCS Architecture designed the 6,000 square foot residence for a family of five, creating all the spaces according to the client’s brief – a family-friendly space arrangement that easily connects to the outdoors, offering comfort and fresh air. Sustainable features like energy systems (“the 4-killowatt photovoltaic solar array on the roof generates about half of the home's electricity“), natural materials and building methods reduce the carbon footprint and allow the family to enjoy their home while protecting the environment.
Located in Los Altos Hills, California, the modern house features two breezeways that separate the structure into three parts: “The result is a contemporary compound with well-defined outdoor spaces that are comfortable during hot summer days. An L-shaped main level plan houses the primary living areas and garage. The second floor bedroom wing, clad in cedar, is a long bar that is rotated in relation to the first floor. It creates sheltered zones below as well as a pair of roof decks for the four bedrooms. The second floor meets the ground at its north end, forming the pool house. Between the pool house and the family room, a breezeway frames a view of the property and Silicon Valley.” Using a natural palette, the architects erected the two stories of the house with careful consideration for the environment and maximized the connection to the surroundings.

The Bamboestoel (Dutch for Bamboo Chair) is a great chair design that captures the potential of a fascinating and versatile material. By using one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth to create a standstill of its texture and properties to create a nest-like design, the artists working on the project – Tejo Remy and Rene Veenhuizen – give the impression of considering the implications of loosing contact with our natural environment. It seems to me like bamboo is a material that constantly reminds us of something sensual and precious. Using bamboo instead of wood allows the artist to create a solid yet highly flexible design and the round corners and perfect thickness of the bamboo strips create a stunning representation of natural materials enhanced through modern woodworking techniques. The limited edition bamboo chair we found on BlogDecoDesign could be that object with a story behind it, the great design that adorns your inspired home. With a total living area of 238 square meters, this inspiring modern home located in a municipality in Stockholm County, Sweden, is not what you would normally expect from a typical Scandinavian home. The residence (seen on Residence.se) is said to be designed in a contemporary international style and offers fabulous views of the surrounding landscape. Large sliding patio doors lead to a generous terrace for large dinner parties. The main house is structured on the levels. The upper floor accommodates the living room , kitchen and master bedroom with en-suite walk in closet and bathroom. On the lower level of about 80 square meters, there are three bedrooms, a TV room, a bathroom and laundry room. The villa is located far out in the Stockholm archipelago and around the corner is Fagelbro Golf and Country Club which offers golf activities, restaurants, stables and gym. More summer pubs in the local area are easily accessible by boat. Can you think of any other features that would have better adjusted this home to its surroundings?

Can you remember the last time you enjoyed throwing one of these in the air? The people of Estiluz probably thought it was time to remind you of the playful potential that a balloon has to offer. So they created a series of cute balloon lamps that can be used in the children’s rooms. But even though these designs were particularly envisioned for kids, no one says you can not have one. Why not take advantage of the original design of these balloon lamps and place them in the lounge area or the living room of a family home? You can have a single model, but choosing to place three or four could prove to be a good idea as well. The result is an overall feel of floating balloons, which sets a happy mood.
