Original Architecture and Tasteful Interiors: House R in Israel Posted: 23 Jan 2012 05:13 AM PST Israeli company Sharon Neuman Architects have completed House R, a modern residence located in Kfar Yedidia, Israel. The house is neighbored by agricultural fields, so one of the objectives of the architecture team was to create a project that breathes and bonds with the exterior. According to the architects, “the geometric volumes and voids are used to define the areas within the dwelling as well as add visual interest from an exterior perspective. This feature results in living spaces of varying heights and is used to separate one room to the next in an otherwise uninterrupted flowing of spaces. The cantilevered mass allows the garden to continue underneath, creating a pathway that is neither inside or outside. An integrated pergola gives shade for the outdoor kitchen which can be used all year around due to the local weather“. Interior design was given special interest, as this residence displays tasteful contemporary arrangements, with subtle color additions. Have a look! Imposing Modern Residence in California: OZ House Posted: 23 Jan 2012 03:32 AM PST The OZ Residence was designed by Swatt Miers Architects and is located in Silicon Valley, California. According to the brief given by the owners, a young couple with two children, the home had to have a casual, barefoot feel, like a holiday destination, with strong indoor-outdoor connections. Here is more from the architects: “The design that evolved is based on a simple "L" shaped plan with two wings. The east wing includes the kitchen and family room on the ground floor, with children's bedrooms located on the upper level. The south wing consists of an office, media room, and guest suite at the lower level, with the master suite located on the second floor. Connecting the two wings is a living / dining 'great room', fully glazed on the north and south sides. Under a low, cantilevered overhang, a solid mahogany pivoting entrance door opens to the dramatic 'great room', a beautiful two-story volume pierced by a floating glass bridge that runs east-west, connecting the two wings at the upper level“. We invite you to have a look at the photos taken of this home and tell us if you consider its design fits the clients’ brief. Former Industrial Warehouse Turned Into Design Gallery in Barcelona Posted: 23 Jan 2012 01:02 AM PST BD Barcelona Design is a Spanish company with decades of experience and international prestige. The team recently completed a design gallery in Barcelona, where creative minds in the country will be able to showcase and sale their works. The new exhibition space is a result of an architecture conversion, from an old industrial warehouse. Here is an excerpt from the official press release we were sent: “If Barcelona's prolific design culture could be contained within four walls, it would have a new address. BD Barcelona Design's new showroom gallery occupies a former industrial warehouse in 22@, Barcelona's emerging creative district. The new showroom gallery will act as a dynamic meeting point for Spain's design community, make its collection available to be viewed (and purchased) by the public at large, and celebrate craftsmanship, luxury and that wondrous human capacity to imagine, innovate and create“. How do you appreciate the design of this exhibition space? You're reading Former Industrial Warehouse Turned Into Design Gallery in Barcelona originally posted on Freshome. Sustainable Family Residence in California: 2 Bar House Posted: 22 Jan 2012 03:31 AM PST Feldman Architecture have completed a modern residential project entitled 2 Bar House and located in the San Francisco Bay Area, in California. Especially developed for a couple with two young children, the house mirrors the lifestyle of the family members and provides both indoor and outdoor spaces for various activities. Here is a description from the architects:”The 2 Bar concept floats a bedroom bar above and perpendicular to a living bar, an arrangement that allows both spaces to open up to more light than the typical box. The lower, living level features accordion and lift/slide doors which allow the house to open to a generous backyard and garden. A private, green roof with deck allows the upper level to also have a connection to garden and landscape. The horizontal slats that clad the upper bar create a simple and elegant rain screen and provide operable panels over the windows that can be easily moved to control light and privacy.” The 2,120 square foot residence features green materials and cost-efficient technologies, making this project not only aesthetically pleasing, but also sustainable.
