For today we would like to present MirrorBook Air, a compact pocket mirror for all the ladies out there in love with Apple. Yes, the design may also appeal to vain men and I can not help imagining  a bunch of guys secretly showing off this mirror among each other, behind their girlfriends’ back. The tiny version of the famous gadget is fun and highly original, easy to carry around from place to place and most of all, something that is sure to make an impression on lady friends. Life on Water: Modular Aqua Floathome in Germany Posted: 08 Dec 2011 03:07 AM PST How do you feel about life on water? This modular Aqua Floathome was designed by Steeltec37 and is located in Lusatian Lake District in Germany. The residence has a unique appearance and welcomes all the comfort of modern living. Here is the idea behind the project, as stated by the architects: “On a floating home you can experience the feeling of freedom, combined with a maritime flair – a feeling of life which everyone has always dreamed of. Inspired by transparency, surrounded with nature and harmony. An unsinkable pontoon offers security and provides the basis for the dream – water living“. Aqua Floathome features steel rectangular tubes for support, a vaulted roof to give it that sailboat appeal, an innovative air-vapor barrier membrane and quality thermal insulation. The interior design is highly modern, with tasteful arrangements and floor to ceiling windows for unobstructed lake views.

Original Chandeliers Made From Kitchen Items: Memoria and Light Relief Posted: 08 Dec 2011 01:57 AM PST We received two unconventional chandeliers from designer Rebecca Wilson. Here are the photos and information we were sent: “”Memoria; 100 Cups of Tea, Never To Be… highlights the sadness of a beautiful object that has been broken. A shattered gold tea pot lies below while it's soul leaves its broken vessel in the form of a swarm of 100 ghostly little winged tea cups.  A faint glow from within enhances the ghostly presence of each angelic winged tea cup. Each little cup is individually cast and assembled in bone china, and then suspended from an single fiber optic strand. The LED light shource in concealed within the lightweight ceiling rose fitting and gives a ghostly cool white glow. Retail price is £5950. [Photo credit: Chris Park] ‘A Wee Bit of Light Relief‘ was born out of a collaborative project between three artists; Rebecca Wilson, Clare Waddle and Julia Douglas. A few years ago, the trio started to work on an epic chandelier of chore related objects such as kitchen implements and cleaning utensils cast in low relief in translucent bone china. The piece glamorizes and makes light of the domestic routine, and its implements of monotony. The domestic accouterments dangle, tinkling in the breeze, temporarily redundant, allowing for a break from the monotonous grind of housework to enjoy a moment's light relief under the glamorous chandelier”.  [Retail Price £250]

Privacy Without The Use of Walls or Fences: Haack House in Brazil Posted: 08 Dec 2011 12:34 AM PST The Haack House is a lovely two-story contemporary residence designed by Brazilian studio 4D-Arquitetura and located in Guaíba, Brazil. Because it is located in a neighborhood where fences are not allowed, the architects had to come up with a plan that would ensure a maximum level of privacy: “this house had the design developed in three parallel horizontal bars that protects terrain sides. The central block has two floors: on the ground floor are the social areas at the center – living, dinner and leisure. At second floor, with access by a linear loose ladder, is located the private area. A big mezzanine makes the two floor integration, giving the space higher amplitude. A footbridge crosses the mezzanine, leading to the master bedroom, while the other rooms are on the other end of the floor.The house structure was built on metal girders and pillars with two large concrete plans that serve as support. This solution allowed free internal spaces and large swings at the front and back of the house, creating two covered open livings.” How do you feel about living in a home with no fences?
