| Sophisticated Chair With a Youthful Appearance: Loop 3D Wood Posted: 16 Nov 2011 07:56 AM PST
Loop 3D Wood Chair was designed with nature in mind and has a surprising, sophisticated appearance. Found on Grassroots Modern, the chair inspires a youthful feel and is perfect for a fresh interior. According to the manufacturers, “Loop is a chair that expresses the evolution of a design, where technological innovation goes hand in hand with creative flair. Loop is the result of a special technology where the multilayer pre-treated 3D wood is bent to form a double curvature without breaking. This produces an incredibly plastic effect, enhanced by the natural, wengé or bleached engineered oak finish. The frame is made of ø 16×2 mm tube and comes in chromium-plated or satin-finish versions with jointed feet which can house non-scratch felt pads“. Have fun going through the photos and don’t forget to share your likes and/or dislikes concerning this design.

| Cubic Mirrors Playing With Perceptions in Paris: “Ring” Installation by Arnaud Lapierre Posted: 16 Nov 2011 06:57 AM PST
Ring was envisioned by artist Arnaud Lapierre and was a project implemented in VENDÔME square, Paris, as part of FIAC Art Fair. We received some information of the project from the developer, and we are happy to share them forward: “Ring is an installation which takes into consideration the urban space networking : the rhythm, flow, organization and spatial hierarchy. The installation embodies a visual effect that is to connect all of these interactions through the implementation of an optical effect: the repetition of an cubic mirror to break the perception of the place. This dynamic installation changes the relationships between individuals and the space they are going through.
“Ring” invites the visitor to play with the installation and space on two levels: The very first approach would be more related to experience a change in the urban areas: as a temporal kinetics. The facets of each cube reflects the place and reconstruct a paradigm that breaks the reading of the course. Ring work at this stage as a visual intrusion, an acceleration that changes the perception of the visited place. This is a spacial rediscovery. In a second step, the installation proposes to get inside, to see his own image multiplied to infinity, which collides with urban detail, it is now a place outside time and outside spatiality, in total rupture with the outside principle . The vision is more intimate”. What is your opinion regarding the contemporary art installations we feature on Freshome? Would you like to see more similar projects in the future?

| Small Apartment With Just Enough Room For Great Living Posted: 16 Nov 2011 03:15 AM PST
Welcome to an apartment that is designed to take care of its inhabitants in the best possible way, allowing just enough space for socializing, but ensuring intimacy as well. This Scandinavian crib found on Alvhem features two rooms plus kitchen and bathroom, spread over an area of only 58 square meters. An original hallway leads the way to the living room, a bright and harmonious interior with plenty of space for a sofa, reading corner and bookcase. A large window allows natural light inside and offers views of the urban landscape. Next off, you will find the lavish kitchen tastefully renovated and featuring granite worktop and mechanical equipment in stainless steel. Built-in microwave, fridge / freezer, integrated quiet dishwasher and stove-all these make cooking a pleasure. Opposite to the working area, there is a kitchen island with extra storage space and room for dinner guests. My favorite room of the apartment is apartment, an interior that displays so much warmth, even though its color palette can be considered sober.

| Sleek, Modern and Sophisticated Single Family Property: Villa Veth Posted: 16 Nov 2011 02:12 AM PST
Caught in between a forest and a meadow, Villa Veth was designed to offer its outdoor-loving inhabitants the best of both worlds: a fascinating natural environment and a sophisticated and comfortable indoor lifestyle. Located in Hattem, the Netherlands, the contemporary villa was designed by 123DV Modern Villas. Modern power floated concrete floors were matched with dark gray stucco and frameless glass walls to create a contemporary display of modern building materials. Not only the materials were carefully chosen, but some of the glass walls were curved to give the south-oriented living area a creative twist and to seamlessly connect the interior to the outdoor patio. With 475 m2 floor surface spread over two floors and 6,000 square meters of land, Villa Veth is an amazing single family property. This house’s features also allow its owners to enjoy late summer days and night out on the terrace, secured by the comfort of heated floors and a large canopy. The interiors are warm and inviting and a special feature visually unifies the living/cooking/dining zone: the kitchen, storage space, fireplace, piano and audio equipment form an integral part of the custom designed wall unit. I bet you already imagined yourself living there.

| Cozy Holiday Atmosphere in a Small Swedish Summerhouse Posted: 16 Nov 2011 01:14 AM PST
Stockholm-based studio DINNELLJOHANSSON completed Palladio- Strandbaden, a summerhouse located on the coast of Höganäs, Sweden. Found on Architizer, the residence displays a modest exterior and a layout that is both practical and aesthetically appealing. The concepts used by architect Andrea Palladio (Italian architect from the Xvi-th century) in his world-renowned villas from the region of Veneto, can also be observed in this small home, where the existing space is maximized, while maintaining an open design composition. Once inside, a potential visitor will surely be surprised by the ingenious layout. Structured on two communicating levels, the house features the communal areas below (ground floor entrance, kitchen, dining, living area and bathroom) and a lofted bedroom which can be accessed via a central staircase. A modern fireplace descending from the ceiling becomes the focal point of the crib, contributing to a cozy holiday atmosphere and encouraging socializing.

| Home Renovation in Bel Air With a Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Transition Posted: 16 Nov 2011 12:15 AM PST
Beverly Grove residence was designed by David Hertz Architects and is located in Bel Air, California. According to the official description. the project consisted of a two-story addition and extensive renovation to an existing Buff & Hensman Case Study House and it was “successful in seamlessly integrating the design of the new addition in deference to the original architecture. The scope included a new third story roof-deck, a two-story addition, and the renovation of all existing grounds“. The exterior of the building is complex and imposing, with large windows creating an optimum indoor/outdoor relationship. Landscape architecture planning makes the pool adjacent area welcoming and perfectly suited for outdoor relaxation. The interiors are spacious, a feeling transmitted by the high ceilings, generous windows, and minimalist contemporary furniture arrangements. Do you find the layout of this residence practical?

| Friendly Apartment With Glossy Details by Hungarian Designer Melinda Néder Posted: 15 Nov 2011 08:54 AM PST
We recently received an interesting apartment from Hungarian interior designer Melinda Néder. We are pleased to present her work, along with a personal description of the project: “A friendly, 130m2 modern family home was born from a construction site during one and a half years The owners had only few requests: that the home must be a modern, sleek style, in black and white colors completed with mainly red and silver. I refined only to change the too much black and white color for anthracite- off-white one, so we got a much more friendly colors. They had an other important request to find a place for vinyl record collection. I got totally free hand during the whole work only I had to consider the budget. I must say I was lucky because the owners fully trusted me so I had the opportunity to dream and to realize the dreams.
Elegant silver wallpaper in the hallway, high-gloss furnitures, white glossy finish and red carpet are the elements that welcome the visitors. The living room, dining room and kitchen are in one space. The anthracite-colored furnitures combined with off-white color, where in between the bright red spots vividly stand out. The firewood storage and the built-in storage with shelves are placed in the living room next to a corner fireplace. The kitchen appliances have been installed under the open staircase in this way making full use of dead space. The lightnes of modern glass handrail has an effect to increase the space. The hidden lights of living room and the stairs illuminator small LED lights further enhance the pleasant atmosphere. The owner's large record collection has been placed in the turn of the staircase”. Do you enjoy the mix of colors and textures this apartment puts on display?

Modern-day bathrooms are meant to be a sanctuary, a place we can go to relax and unwind after a busy day, a room that is calm and peaceful. However, bathtubs are not always as comfortable as we'd like them to be. Dutch designer
To make the bathroom into a space in the house where he would like to be, Linssen approached the products in the bathroom as if they were objects in the living room. He started by making a bathtub, which drew its inspiration from an armchair.
The wooden frame of the chair, which is made from American White Oak, also acts as the mould from which the bathtub was created. The tub itself is made from a composite of polyester and marble.
Linssen explains: "For this project I took the frame of a chair, designed with comfort and posture in mind, and let it evolve into a bathtub. The base of the bath is defined by its oak-wood ‘skeleton’, the composite tub slightly puffs up between the wooden beams, pushed into this shape naturally through water pressure."

This bathtub looks pretty comfortable to me and I certainly wouldn’t mind taking a soak in it. How about you?
