| Hanging Infinity Pools in Bali at Ubud Hotel & Resort Posted: 01 Nov 2011 05:39 AM PDT
Bali is a small island in Indonesia, a magical place, known worldwide due to its rich culture and mesmerizing landscapes. For today, we will present Ubud Hanging Gardens Hotel, a man-made attraction. The most striking of the hotel’s design features is a large, multi-leveled infinity pool, with curves that are said to copy the shape and beauty of the hills nearby. Guests can swim at the edge and enjoy peaceful vistas of the ancient Pura Penataran Dalem Segara temple, located on the opposite hillside. Decks adorn the pool, offering visitors a chance to relax in the sun, while contemplating. Taking full advantage of the setting, the resort was built on wooden pillars among the steep rice fields of Ubud. This way, each of the 38 luxury private pool villas is perfectly integrated in this scenic environment. You can consider this a perfect Balinese hideaway for romantic couples and honeymooners, or a comfortable family retreat. Either way, this tropical paradise plays with senses and provides experiences beyond imagination. Enjoy the photos!

| Family Café With a Playful Look in Bucharest by NUCA Studio Posted: 01 Nov 2011 04:31 AM PDT
How can you get a café appeal to the entire family? It is a tough task, but the Romanian Studio NUCA managed to create a place in Bucharest, where fantasy meets function and creative design. “Phill” is the name of this diverse family hangout, structured on two levels. The first hosts the playground, a multipurpose room and a small café, while the upper floor accommodates a restaurant. The multipurpose room is destined for various events, from movie projections and theater plays to martial arts and ballet lessons. Between the enclosed playroom and multipurpose room- both with their own lighting scheme and especially designed acoustic systems- there is a small café, where parents can watch over their kids through a couple of round openings in the playroom wall. The overall design of this original café is cheerful and interactive. And did you notice the four-meter elephant in the center?

| Cantilevering Modern Habitat In Guatemala City – Vistas del Angel Posted: 01 Nov 2011 02:39 AM PDT
Perched on a steep sloping terrain in Guatemala City, Vistas del Angel residence captures exceptional views of the surroundings while resting on concrete piles poured into the unstable terrain. The cantilevering residential building was designed in three phases, making sure that the home will be able to sustain its own weight in the seismically active area. Constructing the imposing contemporary house necessitated light gauge steel sandwich panel walls, but extensive use of glazed windows still frame green stretches of land all the way down to the valley underneath. Interior spaces were designed to comfort and entice inhabitants and guests alike. A series of wooden decks connect the land to the entrance, creating the adventurous feeling of balancing to reach a comfortable suite of rooms. Terraces offer unequalled open-air experiences and construct a fascinating and soothing connection to the freeing outdoors. Designed by Juan Lacape of modern design practice LAKP, Vistas del Angel can be described as the essence of modern habitat.

| Chesterfield-Style Padded Wall Panels from Dreamwall Posted: 01 Nov 2011 12:35 AM PDT
I don’t know about you, but when we first saw these wall panels we were totally fooled by them. They look so soft and comfortable, like they are made from padded fabric, but they are in fact composed of a polyurathane back with a front face made of resin mixed with a natural stone and marble powder, making them very hard indeed.
Earlier this year, Hannah Coleman, founder of Dreamwall, a UK-based supplier specializing in high-quality imitation wallcoverings for the domestic and commercial markets, launched the new panel range called Capitone, which strongly resembles the padded effect of a deep buttoned Chesterfield sofa.
The panels, which are part of the Fashion Walls collection, are 100mm thick and available in either black or white. Installation is easy as the panels can be attached to the wall surface using strong bonding glue, or they can be drilled into the wall if necessary.
They are extremely light, water repellent, flame retardant, and non permeable making them ideal for use indoors and outdoors. They also have superb thermal, acoustic and anti-humidity qualities.
So were you taken in as well? Did you also think that these wall panels were soft and cushioned? And given their many advantageous properties, where would you use them? |

| Defined by Grace: Dancing Chair by Constance Guisset Posted: 31 Oct 2011 08:52 AM PDT
Dancing Chair is an elegant design project belonging to artist Constance Guisset. With an appearance that is eye-catching and original, the Dancing Chair is bold, to say the least. The base of the chair is constructed of bent, undulating pieces of wood. This gives it an almost ethereal look, very pleasant to observe. Constance went for a shell-like upholstered seating unit, that ensures a high degree of comfort. The product was also interpreted as a modern approach of the traditional rocking chair. Both the chair and footrest come with a removable textured fabric cover, for easy maintenance. The project is one of the 13 chosen ideas to be presented during the MAISON MEUBLE exhibition at the VIA stand. How do you appreciate the overall appearance of this unusual chair?
