Connecticut Pool House is a lovely home located in Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA and designed by New York City-based studio Resolution: 4 Architecture (Res4). Here is a short description from the architects: "Located in a natural clearing within a wooded hillside of northwestern CT, this watering hole serves as a sustainable entertainment and relaxation center from the hectic urban existence, a place to go from always being "on", to actually shutting "off" for a bit – a place to simply chill out. The 16 x 52 module contains a sleeping zone at one end of the module, and a food prep / consumption / digestion zone at the other. In between sits a recycled black-steel core, a volume containing the bathroom, steam shower, laundry, storage, and a heat-generating fireplace. Although 'floating' in the middle of the space and not connected to a perimeter wall, the core is filled with natural light from a skylight above and frosted glass pocket doors; an outdoor shower brought indoors”. More sustainable features of this home include a high-performance flash-n-batt insulation system, natural ventilation and evaporative cooling.

| Patterns and Colors Intertwining to Create a Cheery Home Posted: 31 Oct 2011 03:10 AM PDT
Dedicating itself to the well-being of its owners, this beautiful home in Eceira, Portugal, was designed by Monica Penaguião of Poeira Interior Design with offices in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. Gathering elegance and exuberance under one roof, this home is filled with a bold collection of color palettes that bring out the best in its space arrangement. Patterns intertwine and materials collide in a sustained and successful effort to bring life into all the spaces. Colorful furniture and carefully chosen decorative pieces are displayed as bold punctuation marks. The white and velvet blue living room features several colorful glass decorations that brighten up the space and make it more homey and a pure white coffee table sinuously adorns the center of the room. A wood and glass staircase leads up to the next floor, where the two beautifully decorated bedrooms invite family and guests to enjoy their bright and cheery interiors. Found on Flodeau, the home can be admired in the photos below. Enjoy!

| Getaway Taken To Remarkable Romantic Heights: Astarte Suites, Santorini Posted: 31 Oct 2011 12:30 AM PDT
Astarte Suites is a spectacular 9-room complex designed by Aygoustis Krousis and located on a cliff on the beautiful Santorini Island in Greece. Small, but with impeccable services, infinity pool, and unforgettable views, the hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway. Here is an excerpt from the official description from the architects: “Magic is in the details at Astarte Suites, beginning with the twinkling Swarovski stones that adorn the ceiling above each suite's Jacuzzi pool, ending with the personalized service each guest enjoys. Surrounded by soothing shades of white and stone, guests are sure to find bliss here. During their precious down time, guests can relax and unwind next to Astarte's stunning turquoise infinity swimming pool, which overlooks the Aegean Sea's tranquil blue waters and nearby rocky cliffs. Leisure and cultural options abound nearby, such as in Akrotiri, an ancient city buried and preserved by volcanic ash-known as the Pompeii of the Greek islands-and at Red Beach and White Beach, the ultimate locales for a spectacular day of fun in the sun”. How is the view from your standing point?

| TV Unit With a Futuristic Design by Erhan Afsaroglu Posted: 30 Oct 2011 01:36 PM PDT
“Melting Point” is the latest addition to Prestige Group‘s portfolio, a domestic furniture design and manufacturing firm in North Cyprus. Designed by Erhan Afsaroglu, this tv unit is inspired by a drop of water before it falls from a surface. It demonstrates a skillful construction method using LG Hi-macs to create a smooth piece with seamless joints. With its minimalist yet futuristic design, it promotes a combination of semi-open and enclosed shelving. As the piece on the bottom part curves spontaneously, it forms spaces for magazines, dvds and tv equipment. The entire unit is fixed to the wall and therefore creates a floating effect. This is magnified by the use of LED lighting which is embedded behind. The top unit measures 81x130x20cm, while the bottom unit measures 297x30x45cm. These dimensions create a piece which is not only functional, but also an eye catching central feature perfect for a living space. [Photos and information courtesy of Erhan Afsaroglu]
