Faber Castell Promoted Through Hundreds of Circles and Famous Art [Video]

circle 550x296 Faber Castell Promoted Through Hundreds of Circles and Famous Art [Video]

Faber Castell is a worldwide manufacturer of pen, pencils, art supplies and other office products, including luxury ones. The way they promote themselves is original and artistic. We stumbled across this video that left us speechless and decided to share it further. The film was made by Eric Yeo and implies hundreds of circles carefully drawn by hand. The result is mind-blowing: a beautiful version of Johannes Vermeer’s masterwork called “Girl with a pearl earing”. The short film is truly captivating and surprising. One might even say unbelievable. We salute this idea and find it to be a positive example of promoting a multinational company. No drama, no forced plot, just a simple artistic idea with the power to impress its viewers and make them appreciate the brand’s unique values. Enjoy!

Three Generations Under One Roof: House of Pavilions

House of Pavilions Three Generations Under One Roof: House of Pavilions

House of Pavilions was built for three generations living under one roof. Designed by Architecture Paradigm, these pavilions were created according to the client’s brief – as a versatile collection of spaces that will grow together with the extended family, gathering memories and storing them amongst modern furniture items. Located in the nonconformist city of Bangalore, in India, this interesting residence flaunts its architecture in a gated community, where pollution-free environment and closeness to the city are luxuriously priced. Favorable climatic conditions allowed the architects to create a strong connection between the inside and the outside, with the help of large glazed walls, water features and sliding doors. The surrounding vegetation enhances the beauty of the property, don’t you think?

There is no warmer feeling than sitting at the table with friends and family, while the crisp autumn air breezes outside, and you enjoy a memorable dinner. Autumn is that time of year before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, where you can enjoy the togetherness of entertaining, especially at your dining room table. Autumn centerpieces are a perfect way to brighten your festive dining table, as well as warm the house with eye-catching fall color, even when the table isn't occupied. For ideas for bringing fall inspiration to your dining room table, look at these inspiring ideas.

  • Celebrate with nature:  Some of the prettiest centerpiece ideas aren't manufactured or made by a machine, but rather delivered straight from nature. Colorful pumpkins in orange, green and even white varieties are beautiful on their own, or painted with shimmering gold or silver accents. Gourds, berries, and nuts in complimenting vases and votive glass containers are the perfect addition to your autumn dinner table. For an edible centerpiece, consider housing bowls of fresh apples along side nuts for cracking and other edible tidbits to delight the nibbling guest!

  •  Illuminate with flowers and candles: Once the temperatures start dropping, the focus is on heading inside with the warmth of a welcoming meal, especially along side illuminating candles and flowers. Floating votive candles around a bouquet of autumn inspired flowers can be the final touch to a well-set table. Sunflowers, leaves, branches with colorful magnolia leaves or a bouquet of your florists seasonal varieties will compliment your autumn colored table linen and dinnerware. Coordinate your guest's place cards, and napkins with unique pieces of the centerpiece. What guest wouldn't love getting their own flower gracing their plate?

  • Create a scene at the buffet table: If you are having a buffet style meal for your guests, ensure the buffet table compliments the beautiful centerpiece of the dining room table. The buffet table or sideboard is a perfect spot to showcase taller vases, apothecary jars, and glass containers for display and for function. Mix flowers, fruit, nuts, leaves, and even pictures coordinating with the theme of your dining occasion. Use tall containers with lids for display items, while keeping others open for easy access for your guests. While the food will be the main showcase of the buffet table, mimicking your dining table autumn centerpiece will unify the entire dining experience.

  • Faux can be beautiful: While live flowers can be a treat, many guests prefer non-scented centerpieces. Whether due to allergies, or the competition of aromas between the food, candles, and flowers, often times faux varieties are a better idea for the dining table. If you decide to use faux floral arrangements, choose high quality silk flowers for a more authentic and believable display.  Choose coordinating candle colors and intertwine different textures within your arrangement. Baskets, straw, branches, and other decorative floral accents will make your faux arrangement look just as good as the real thing!

Autumn is finally here and who can resist the urge to have guests over throughout the season? Your dining room table centerpiece can be made easily with these helpful ideas, and can be kept throughout the season depending on what decorative items you choose. For real fruit, vegetable displays, ensure you rotate them throughout the season, and keep cool and dry to prevent premature spoiling. Whether you choose real or faux, warm your autumn dining table with colorful inspiration that you and your guests will enjoy.

Practical Innovation: Wood That Bends and Folds by Snijlab

snijlab 6 Practical Innovation: Wood That Bends and Folds by Snijlab

Snijlab is a Dutch digital manufacturing company that recently discovered a revolutionary method of making wood flexible. By using a laser cutting technique, they simply make various cuts in the wood, which make it bend in both directions without breaking. Here is more from the producers: “We designed wooden booklets that use this feature. They're made from a beautiful birch plywood and are finished with a clear varnish. The hard wooden cover can be opened fully to the back side for comfortable holding. A tiny clamp inside, made from the same material, holds a standard A7 writing block.Because a laser cutter is a fairly common tool products like this could be manufactured locally, all over the world. By working from sheet materials the products can also be flat-packed, saving even more resources and costs on shipping. For us this means we can make everything in-house and we don't need to produce in big quantities to make it affordable. This is really the power of digital manufacturing and personal fabrication“. Do you find this idea practical?

Ball Camera That Captures Panoramic Views by Jonas Pfeil [Video]

camera panorama Ball Camera That Captures Panoramic Views by Jonas Pfeil [Video]
It is a real treat for photographers to capture panoramic images of various natural or urban landscapes. But what if you could catch a spherical panorama of a place? Jonas Pfeil came up with a design that will probably make you sigh. The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera uses 36 two-megapixel cell phone camera modules spread around the surface of a cute ball in order to photograph full 360-degree panoramas. Hoe does it work? The user throws the ball into the air, and when the camera reaches its highest point, it automatically triggers. This is possible due to an integrated  accelerometer that calculates the climax of flight, allowing the exposure to be provoked. By taking 36 photos at the same time, the spherical image will not suffer any disturbances, which is sometimes the case with stitching photo panoramas. Careful not to drop it, though. Have a look at the video below to see this lovely creation on a roll!

Extensive Use of Glass and Natural Light: Casa AR

Casa AR1 Extensive Use of Glass and Natural Light: Casa AR

Today, a fascinating residence designed by Seinfeld Arquitectos  – Casa AR – will enchant your eyes and fuel your passion for modern architecture. The house uses the classic space arrangement – ground floor for social areas and upstairs for bedrooms, but surprises with the use of geometry and building materials. Using the least amount of structural support, architects built the house on a 816 square meter plot. Extensive use of glass on both the interior and exterior enhances the inhabitant’s needs for bright natural light and a permanent visual connection to the outside world.

Casa AR 21 Extensive Use of Glass and Natural Light: Casa AR

Glass can be found in many forms throughout the house: large windows, skylights, glass railings on the staircase, glass walls for the study area and glass details on the furniture. In order to offer some support to the structure, the architects designed concrete beams on the second level which beautifully match the lines of the skylight structure. The central staircase connects the first floor to the second double-height ceiling floor with an elegant approach that accentuates the flow of light. Located in the San Isidro district of Lima, Peru, the boldly designed modern home must have at least one detail that you fell in love with – share it with us!
