| Contemporary Design and Modern Layout in a TriBeCa Loft Posted: 24 Sep 2011 01:19 AM PDT
We received some photos of a beautifully designed TriBeCa Loft and we just had to share them with you. The interiors of this historic TriBeCa warehouse were created by Office of Architecture in collaboration with Push. The inhabitants, a young couple looking to start a family, needed a space that would encompass all the modern necessities: “After gutting the existing labyrinthian space and leaving only key structural elements such as the existing heavy timber beams, steel columns, and brick walls, the architects were able to carefully organise the private and public spaces in such a manner that the full depth of the entire unit remains uninterrupted. This enables the living room, den, and kitchen areas on the east side of the unit to benefit from the natural light and views of the bedroom windows on the west without ever catching glimpse of the sleeping areas. To help further define and facilitate specific activities, a series of cabinetry, a cantilevered wet bar, as well as large sliding and accordion doors.” Take a look at the photos to see how the space came together and enjoy the modern inspiration!

| Diverse Apartment Showcasing Inspiring Details in Gothenburg Posted: 23 Sep 2011 11:47 AM PDT
We found this lovely apartment on Alvhem which consists of four rooms plus kitchen. A generous hallway painted in white is the starting point for the virtual tour of this diverse loft. With views of the leafy courtyard is one of the apartment’s bedroom. This interior is large and airy with plenty of room for a double bed with bedside tables. Three standing wardrobes offer excellent storage facilities. The walls are painted in a broken light-gray tone that nicely enhances the rustic raw brick walls and floor. The living room is perfect for socializing, thanks to its proximity to the dining room. The square shape with light painted walls and dark-stained tiled floor provides a neutral base, that can be further complimented with other arrangements. This room houses a big sofa, coffee table, TV unit and a reading corner. A giant fireplace adorns one corner and guarantees a pleasant feel. Enjoy the details displayed by the rest of the interiors below and tell us what you think of the overall layout of this generous apartment.

| Modern Retreat With Sale-Boat Inspired Sun Shades Near Chicago Posted: 23 Sep 2011 10:26 AM PDT
The Church – Jett Residence comes from studio John DeSalvo Design and is a 1,400 square foot two story home located near Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana, USA. The house was especially designed for a couple who wanted a modern and sustainable retreat, in order to escape the Chicago urban jungle. According to the architects, “the result is a rectangular volume that maximizes the interior space by building up to the required setbacks and height allowances. It's wood frame and open joist construction is a 16 feet wide, 48 feet long and 23 feet high volume with an additional block at the back for bathrooms, laundry and storage. The entire structure is stabilized and supported by the massive poured in place, rough finish concrete hearth that forms the structural support and heart of the home. To keep the roof terrace shaded, sun shades top off the structure. Their sculptural from not only softens the geometry of the home but recall the sail vocabulary of the boats on the lake. The triangular custom fabricated panels made from Mermet exterior mesh shade material are pulled in tension with sail fittings that are fastened to steel posts secured to the parapet walls”. How do you find this unusual idea for sun shades?

| Original Modern Residence in Austria: Villa P by Love Home Architecture Posted: 23 Sep 2011 09:10 AM PDT
Villa P is an original project developed by Austrian studio Love Architecture. The residence has a total surface of 2,152 square feet and features two floors. The construction was settled on a relatively steep slope and the result is a home with unique design details. Villa P is located in a privileged landscape and has great views over Graz, the second-largest city in Austria. The exterior of this home is truly mesmerizing, from the overall original shape, to the finishes and colors chosen by the architects. Strong visual contrasts are created: the turquoise swimming pool complements the large wooden staircase that connects the garden with the pool and further leads all the way to the upper floor. Large windows ensure a good indoor outdoor connection, offer spectacular views and allow natural light inside. Ho do you find this project’s architecture?

| Complex Indian Residence: Rishikesh House by Rajiv Saini Posted: 23 Sep 2011 08:10 AM PDT
Rishikesh House occupies a total built surface of 640 square meters, with indoor spaces that compose a symphony of open and enclosed spaces. The dining space, for example, is a teak enclosure and the semi-outdoor central courtyard is clearly visible through the glass walls. Created by architect Rajiv Saini, the fascinating architecture of this single-storey residence evokes the sinuous lines of the Gange River below. Situated on a hillside in northern India, the asymmetric architecture of this modern masterpiece uses concrete cantilevering elements and huge floor-to-ceiling glass walls that invite the outdoors inside. The dynamism captured by each volume of the house is inspired by the energy of the nearby river. The swank focal point of the holiday house is its concrete body accentuated by the wooden deck, where owners can enjoy the beautiful panoramas. Isn’t it fascinating?
