| Timber Details and White Walls: Contemporary 4S House Posted: 22 Sep 2011 06:13 AM PDT
Located in Vrdnik, Serbia and Montenegro, the 4S House supplies us with modern architectural inspiration and a wide range of architectural details. The single family residence occupies 250 square meters on a 4,500 square meter property. Designed by A3 Architects, the 4S House project is situated in a rural area, where the inhabitants can enjoy the frisk, fresh air and natural landscape. A beautiful and contemporary combination of white walls and timber details make the residence stand out and the raised platform on which the house stands offered the architects the possibility of constructing the pool and deck on a lower level, with direct access via a double set of stairs. The timber frame that adorns the building contrasts with the metal railings to create a modern and exciting design. Tall windows ensure the interiors get plenty of natural light, while the blinds on the inside offer privacy. Enjoy the photos of the 4S House and drop us a line with your impressions on this modern residence.

| Fresh, Work-Empowering Design: X3 Offices in Timisoara by Ezzo Posted: 22 Sep 2011 04:17 AM PDT
We are extremely proud to showcase a project that was completed in Timisoara, Romania (aka the city where most of the Freshome team is located). The photos below were taken in the X3 offices, an international web design company. The people responsible with the interior design were Stefan Lazar si Alexandra Avram from Ezzo. The X3 office in Timisoara has a total area of 250 square meters and two levels. The first floor features two glass offices and small friendly desks which inspire a friendly work atmosphere. The second level hosts a kitchen, a chill-out place and a delightful conference room. We have to admit that looking at the photos for the first time was a bit puzzling. After years of working in a sober office building, seeing such a design can have a pretty strong effect. How do you guys find it? [Photographer: Andi Popescu]

| Imposing Hilltop Compound in Bel Air by Landry Design Group Posted: 22 Sep 2011 03:17 AM PDT
The imposing Hilltop Compound is a 40,000 square foot, 28 bedroom project located in Bel Air, LA, California. It is made up of a main residence and several other buildings, spread over 1.5 acres of land. The architecture plans were developed by Richard Landry of Los Angeles based Landry Design Group, who stated: "We wanted to evoke a feeling of transparency for this house, with many different layers and floating walls, in order to give it an extra dimension. The home is designed to age well over time, with classical-modern shapes, good proportions, and subtle details" The interior design of the family compound was achieved by David Phoenix, Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by luxury and contemporary arrangements. The main target of the developers was to create a strong bond with the outdoors. "This is California—everyone wants to be outside," says Landry who made sure that the spectacular views from the pool can be admired from any part of the compound.

| Tom Fruin’s Kolonivehus – Colorful Interpretation of Life and Art Posted: 22 Sep 2011 02:11 AM PDT
New York-based artist Tom Fruin has erected an inspiring installation in Copenhagen, which became the scene for daily performances by Copenhagen-based CoreAct ( Anika Barkan and Helene Kvint ). Poetry, computer-controlled light sequences and sound installations keep the installation alive every day. Tom Fruin’s outdoor sculpture installation named Kolonivehus features a door and a few operable windows, just like a real house. Made from welded steel, found plexiglass, and paint, the modern sculpture in the Royal Danish Library Plaza is reminiscent of the small garden sheds designed to offer shelter to poor citizens. Varying in size from 2×2 to 24×3, the over a thousand pieces of reclaimed plexiglass shape a cathedral-inspired artistic house sculpture. Measuring 12 x 12 x 14 feet, the Kolonivehus surprises a playful light and shadow show in the middle of the plaza, drawing attention from passers-by.

| Australian Contemporary Residence: Flipped House by MCK Architects Posted: 22 Sep 2011 01:01 AM PDT
We came across a modern and interesting residence located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The masterminds behind the design and construction of this beautiful residential building are a young team of multi-award winning architects based in Sydney, Australia - MCK Architects. They struggled to find the best solutions for this particular project, replacing a 1960's house with a splendid contemporary version of itself “with a focus that now engages as much on the surrounding garden as it does the panoramic CBD view“. Named the Flipped House, the modern house features adaptations to the existing floor plan up the point of literally “flipping” the interior spaces with garden elements, creating a stronger, more enhanced connection to the outside spaces. “Details, fixtures and fittings are sensitive to the original home“, but the atmosphere, character and elegance of this new residence make it a candidate for a modern dream home, don’t you think?

| Renovated Country House Displaying Modern Charm Posted: 21 Sep 2011 07:14 AM PDT
There is no greater feeling of comfort than to turn your beautiful, old house into a contemporary version of itself – keeping all the memories intact while enjoying fascinating new furniture and furnishings, decorations and design elements. This country house was recently renovated to suit a more modern lifestyle. Custom woodworking and unique furniture adorns the interiors, while the outside spaces benefit from fresh air, warm sunlight and beautiful views. On the inside, white walls and wide oak flooring compose a beautiful background for the vividly colored details. Some of the walls on the first floor were removed to make space for the new open floor plan. The main living area has access to the kitchen and the study, while the staircase leads up to the bedrooms. This two-storey villa in Barcelona was designed by architect Joan Arnau Farrás of studio 05 AM Arquitectura.
