Industrial Pandora Cabinets in Vivid Colours Posted: 01 Jul 2011 05:36 AM PDT Drawing inspiration from the over-industrialized world we all live in, the Pandora Cabinets take the best out of a well-known archetype seen in every harbour. Each piece of the modular storage system has a fascinating appeal and putting them all together can create interesting storage units, personalized to your own choosing. The international operating design studio Sander Mulder has described the Pandora Cabinets as “inspired by the wonderful colour mosaics that sprout to life in every harbor and container terminal the world around. The individual pieces can be stacked and rotated around in endless (colour-) combinations, to create your personal container terminal for all domestic storage uses.” Found on Blue Ant Studio, the industrial Pandora Cabinets are made out of powder coated steel and have smoked glass shelves on the inside. You can even choose to have metal shelves, if you so desire. They are available in three sizes – small, medium and large and come with optional wheels. Impressive Contemporary Residence in Bangkok: L71 House Posted: 01 Jul 2011 04:05 AM PDT L71 House was designed by studio Office AT and is located on the northeastern side of Bangkok, Thailand. Modern and elegant, the residence stands out due to an interesting architecture, a clean interior design and a generous pool with palm trees. Here is more on the project’s structure from the architects: “All of the house programs such as 4 bedrooms, dining room, and family room are placed along the site to face the North. Since the owners have occasional parties, the public areas, such as living room and parking, are in the front of the house, and the private areas are in the back of the house along with a swimming pool. The living room mass was extended to create private space for the swimming pool and the second floor mass was extended to create shading for the swimming pool and terrace. If the house is designed as one big mass it will block ventilation and natural light, so in this house each room is split to maximize ventilation and natural light”. Fun Game Incentives for Kepping a City Clean Posted: 01 Jul 2011 12:19 AM PDT In case you ever wondered how the residents in your city could become more responsible when it comes to littering (or perhaps how you could stop your kids from throwing various papers around the house), keep on reading. A fun and innovative awareness campaign was implemented for the the city of Lucerne in Switzerland. Here is an excerpt from the article published at Neue Luzerner Zeitung about these unusual game incentives: The action "Lucerne shines" was launched already in 1999. At that time, within three years, two thirds of urban waste was replaced by larger models and intensified cleaning. This was a success but there was still a littering problem—i.e. careless dumping of waste in public places. The city of Lucerne spends 4.5 million francs annually to clean public spaces. This campaign was created to sensitize the general population about this problem. A total of 16 bins in the city of Lucerne were converted to game stations. The campaign slogan is: Lucerne shines, very easily. ” We are really curious if this campaign will give any significant results. Designed and owned by well-known designer Steven Volpe, the loft situated on 355 Bryant St, San Francisco, California, displays surprising 18′ ceilings that draw natural light in and allow the inhabitants to feel like they are living in a grand open space. Eight redwood timber columns dominate the interiors and continue up to the ceiling to create an imposing atmosphere. The beautiful combination of exposed brick and conservatory windows give the place a feeling of home without denying the owner his/her freedom.
