| Lovely Twin 20sqm Apartments with a Clever Design Posted: 15 Jun 2011 07:44 AM PDT
We received a creative project from designer Astrid Sangil which involved the designing of two small twin apartments, each of them with a living area of 20 square meters. Be sure to have a look at the last photo of the post for a general idea! Here is the project description we were sent: “Two side by side 20sqm condominium units, one client, two different approaches to a design problem. The limited space and the limited budget posed as a design challenge for interior designer, Astrid Sangil. One unit would be used by the client while the other unit would be rented out. Two small 20sqm units, two different solutions. The first 20sqm provided high contrasts in colors and forms. A patterned wallpaper on the accent wall served as a backdrop to the clean lines of the sofa bed. The beam and dropped ceiling were painted in an intense shade of green to serve as a punch of color while the walls were painted in stark white to emphasize the glossy black cabinets.
Who said small space meant small ideas? The designer used the client’s chic style and delicate sensibilities as a starting point for the design. A french provincial cottage then became a suitable inspiration for the client’s own unit. Lavender flowers, minty cool stripes, louvered cabinet doors and wooden furniture painted in white all combined to create a fresh and French feel to the unit“. | The Beautiful Alden Residence in Los Angeles Seeks New Owners Posted: 15 Jun 2011 06:23 AM PDT
Los Angeles-based architect Rob Wellington Quigley chose to erect this building with the promise of comfort, beautiful architecture and leisurely lifestyle. The Alden Residence incorporates wood and concrete in a splendid residence measuring over 13,000 square feet. Built for the prolific theatre and film director David Alden, the house strives to offer the same quality features that kept the previous owner happy. It was built in 1999, in a gated community on Beverly Park Drive in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California. Now up for sale with Realtor.com, the single family house features an exquisite collection of spaces: 7 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Additional features include: 4 covered parking spaces, swimming pool, a guest house, a private spa, covered porches and open patios. If you have $ 25 million, it can be yours and you can enjoy the spectacular 3 acre property with your family.

| Exquisite Modern Home With Breathtaking Views in Costa Rica Posted: 15 Jun 2011 04:37 AM PDT
This stunning looking home was designed by architect Victor Cañas and is located in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Situated atop of a dramatic cliff, the residence has spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful green coastline. With a total living area of 4500 square feet, this is the ultimate holiday retreat. The side of the building facing the ocean features floor to ceiling windows for unobstructed vistas towards the terraces, infinity pool and beyond. We particularly like the concrete tiles that one has to step on in order to enter the house through the front door. Once inside, prepare for even more surprises. Tasteful decors adorn the spacious interiors, making it hard for anyone not to fall for this place. Concrete and wood elements combine subtly and create great aesthetic effects. The simple color palette is disrupted here and there by orange and red splashes of color. Enjoy! [Photography by Jordi Miralles ]

| Vintage Elements and Extreme Space in a Charming Three Room Apartment Posted: 15 Jun 2011 03:33 AM PDT
Welcome to a wonderful three room apartment designed with good taste in mind. Stretched over an area of 93 square meters, you are looking at a home that inspires due to its modern design spiced up with vintage elements. This crib may be generous in size, but the feeling that you get when looking at the photos is that of extreme space and neatness, achieved through ingenious arrangements. The living room is large, light and airy, featuring a comfortable sofa, a reading corner, a coffee table, a small bookcase and a TV set. Three vintage chests, a fireplace and an old fashioned political map (which we absolutely love, by the way), give this place its turn of the century feel. The bedroom however has a more contemporary approach. White walls and floors contrast beautifuly with a stylish wallpaper. A large window facing a beautiful garden and a king-sized bed makes this room the optimum sleeping interior of the apartment. Have a look!

| Modern Oasis: Riverfront Residence in Tucson, Arizona Posted: 15 Jun 2011 12:47 AM PDT
Riverfront Residence was designed by Taylor Design + BUILD and is located in Tucson, Arizona, within a unique natural landscape. The architecture of the project had to be well adapted to the weather conditions imposed by the buiding’s environment. This is why sustainability was one of the main features the architects took in consideration when designing this home: “The emerging sustainability movement must not forget design aesthetics. We designed this modern home with both in mind. Built with an energy saving ICF concrete wall system and a roof shading strategy. Native desert grasses and small flowering ground cover plants help with summer cooling via micro-shading from the leaves of the plants. The main part of the house opens seamlessly out onto a huge shaded patio and pool.” The Riverfront Residence also features a green roof garden, keeping portions of the house isolated from the heat. Enjoy the photos!

| Mixing Scandinavian and Japanese Inspiration: Henri Stool Posted: 14 Jun 2011 07:48 AM PDT
We received a creative stool design from Alexandre Reignier that we would like to showcase today. Henri Stool is an intriguing looking furniture piece created in Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France. Mixing Scandinavian and Japanese inspiration, the chair is an original blend of materials and design details. The delicacy of its lines and its raw finish look very inviting and ensure a comfortable seating experience. With its simple, yet very creative appearance, the stool can be well integrated in a variety of modern interiors. If you decide to mix it in a minimalist arrangement, it will surely stand out and become the focal point of the set. Within an eclectic decor, count on it to complement some of the most appealing decorating details. Have a look at the photos and tell us if you find this design as imaginative as we do.
