Canon and Nikon Coffee Mugs That Zoom Out When Needed Posted: 16 May 2011 04:19 AM PDT When it comes to photography, the world seems divided into two categories: Nikon and Canon fans. We are obviously curious to find out which one you like best and why, but before that we would like to present these ingenious and fun coffee mugs in the shape of camera lens. The designers at Photojojo say they got the idea for such a product in a restaurant where they were served drinks in a cup that reminded them of a photo camera. According to the official web page, both Canon and Nikon coffee mugs are available- it only seems like a fair marketing move- and they are equipped with an easy to clean, heat preserving, stainless steel lining. The designs also include a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings. We found out that the “Nikon” mug zooms when the owner twists its grip. We would love for you to have your say regarding this crazy idea and remember to let us know what your favorite camera brand is.

Luxury Wrapped Up in Good Taste: The Compass Pointe House Posted: 16 May 2011 02:51 AM PDT The Compass Pointe House was designed by Sean Anderson of Progressive Concept Design, in collaboration with Kelly Deck and is located in Whistler, Canada. Made from local stone and wood, the house has an interesting and inviting exterior, with windows which ensure unobstructed views of the mountain peaks nearby. You are looking at a good example of modern living integrated in a spectacular natural environment. This residence has no less than five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and “luxury additions” such as a wine cellar, a gym with hardwood floors, a recreational room with a pool table, gas fireplace, full bar and plasma TV plus an integrated audio system with speakers in key indoor and outdoor rooms. The building also features a three-car garage and a generous play area that is quiet and protected. Even though this home is available for sale at a mind-blowing cost of $5,999,000, we truly appreciate its tasteful and subtle design.

Charge Your Devices the Fun Way: World of Alice AC Adapter Posted: 16 May 2011 01:53 AM PDT At Freshome we try to offer as many solutions as possible that can change a regular insipid experience into an unusual event. The World of Alice AC adapter was designed by Imamura Ken Nozomi Miyatake and fits our idea of “original”. Found on Swissmiss, the product may have a common function, but its design will definitely not leave you indifferent. Meant to delight the child within, the adapter features small scale silhouettes of various landscape elements: trees, homes, a factory, churches, a train and so on. Little Alice stands in a corner and probably contemplates her world while making sure the energy goes in all the right places. The World of Alice AC adapter is available for purchase online here for approximately 27US Dollars and is not recommended for the children’s room.

Sustainable Extension Project in Australia: Ilma Grove House Posted: 16 May 2011 12:51 AM PDT Ilma Grove House was designed by Andrew Maynard Architects and is located in Northcote, Australia. You are looking at a lovely extension for a family home built in strong relationship with its environment while paying tribute to sustainability: “Taking advantage of the north-facing backyard, the geometrical structure sits behind the existing building without invading the house, avoiding extra costs in demolition and reducing construction waste. The recycled-brick facade features strategic openings to maximize sun penetration, resulting in an oblong S-shaped face with deep overhangs over the generous windows. The tangible boundary between the inside and outside has been blurred by bringing in elements of the gardens indoors through potted portions on the floor.” The architects further explain that the addition features a kitchen with dining zone and a lounge opening up towards the backyard. On the second level there is a large bedroom with stairs leading to the roof terrace. Have a look!

Exquisite Details Covering the Magistral Cabinet by Sebastian Errazuriz Posted: 15 May 2011 07:51 AM PDT Displaying an exceptional design with exquisite details, the Magistral Cabinet offers a glamorous feeling to any interior. Created by New York based artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz, the majestic cabinet design is covered in over 80,000 bamboo skewers. The patterned design creates a fantastic dynamic effect. Featuring many drawers and openings hidden at first sight, the Magistral Cabinet protects your belongings with style. The drawers slide open to reveal the functioning mechanism of this amazing piece of furniture. When closed, the cabinet looks like it was taken out of a modern fantasy. In 6 weeks, 12 skilled woodworkers created what the designer dreamed: a perfectly balanced, glamorous cabinet. Each bamboo skewer was individually hammered into the previously carved wooden structure, creating an extremely elaborate design. Currently on display at the Cristina Grajales Gallery, the Magistral Cabinet can be admired by anyone interested in the design and the artist’s work. Ready for more amazing design ideas?
