We know you like infinity pools, which is why we decided to dedicate a post to the Jade Mountain Resort in St. Lucia, a place where each room has its own infinity pool. Here is more information from the official site: “Jade Mountain is a cornucopia of organic architecture celebrating St Lucia's stunning scenic beauty. Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy has expanded upon his philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature. The resort is characterized by the bold architectural design – individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries and rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky.” The infinity pools here are called “sanctuaries” and are divided into “star”, “moon”, “sun” and “galaxy” pools, according to their size. The price for experiencing a night in this tropical resort? Costs per room range from $950 to $2,700 US.

| Keep Your Wires Untangled: AppleCore Cord Organizer Posted: 22 Apr 2011 05:57 AM PDT
We featured some ingenious solutions on Freshome about how to handle unwanted cables in your home, but this design comes with an original twist. AppleCore Cord Organizer brings together simplicity and aesthetics in order to solve the ever growing issue of tangled wires. Here is a short project description from the producers: “Our solution is the AppleCore – a smart and stylish cord organizer. Instead of tying cables together or hiding cables behind faux furniture or objects, the AppleCore celebrates the wire by incorporating the cable into the design. The apple core shape allows wires to be wrapped in seconds, while allowing flexibility in desired cable length through the coiling or uncoiling of the AppleCore. Our AppleCores comes in a variety of sizes and colors, allowing the user to outfit their home or office with ease.” Freshome readers, what other creative ideas do you have for dealing with tangled wires?

| A Tweet for the Interactive TweetingSeat! Posted: 22 Apr 2011 04:17 AM PDT
TweetingSeat was created by Product Designer Chris McNicholl and is an original interactive park bench. Seen on notcot.org, the concept aims at connecting the digital world with the physical seating-in-the-park experience. According to the official press release, “The bench is designed to explore the potential for connecting physical and digital communities by logging its usage through uploading images of its users and environment to a live Twitter feed. Each time someone sits down, TweetingSeat uploads an image from two cameras to the Twitter feed. One camera is located on the bench looking at the surrounding space, and another is located nearby looking at the people who use it. Whilst emphasising the features that distinguish it from traditional park benches, the object has been designed with this aesthetic in mind“. Twitter fans, if you find this idea appealing, feel free to push the Tweet button!

Today’s project, LeCouvent-Loft, is located North of Paris in Val-d'Oise and is in fact an old convent (dating back to the 18th century) turned into a contemporary place to live. The new “loft” has an area of 2,475 square feet and features impressive modern arrangements that you could otherwise find in luxurious penthouses. With a vivid and eye-catching chromatic, when inside, no one could possibly guess this building’ former usage. And if you are interested in knowing how this convent looked centuries ago – in 1769, have a look at the last photo of the post and compare. | How your Backsplash can Change your Space Posted: 21 Apr 2011 09:21 AM PDT Backsplashes have come a long way from their usual simple tile, or turn up return piece from the countertop. Today backsplashes command attention in the kitchen or bathroom, and are becoming more of a feature than a subtle backdrop. Depending on your décor style you can use a variety of materials, finishes and colors for your backsplash to coordinate with your space. Here are suggestions on how to choose a backsplash that will change your space before your eyes.
Backsplashes are a nice way to make a space come alive with color, or get subdued with soft tones. Choose your style and be creative. For under cabinet counters, use lighting to brighten the work surface as well as bring your backsplash alive. The most common mistake in putting up a show stopper backsplash is not providing ample light to showcase it! Freshome reader's what type of backsplash do you like? | Contemporary Home Designing with Victorian Details by LIMITless Posted: 21 Apr 2011 08:04 AM PDT We received an impressive interior design project from Jane Lee on behalf of LIMITless, a company based in Toronto. We invite you to go through the photos and the official description and share your opinions: “When designing a space, it's important to try not to follow other existing styles or fashions. One will eventually feel the shortcomings of a single design style. A good living space should be created with a style that you feel comfortable with. The design style should not be loud and obnoxiously displayed in your living space but it should be subliminally showcased through every inch of the room itself. A good interior designer should know that every element within the room has to harmoniously create the space. No object or color should clash with other objects. When the designs can be brought into one space and reflect a single aesthetic approach, the interior designer's ability is praised. In this particular project the designer's main objective was to create the space that illustrated the LIMITless lifestyle within the style that the home owner wanted. As any other interior design, the comfort and usability of each space had to be considered. On the other hand, the extravagant Victorian aesthetics had to be economically planned throughout the entire home.
For starters, the LIMITLESS designer used a white, gray-blue and purple color scheme to create a romantic yet elegant atmosphere. It reflects the city's avant-garde style mashing together with classical elements: elaborate hanging chandeliers, simple art glasses in the wall and altogether enhanced by the strong three-dimensional textured wall of the dining room creating visual dynamics within one space. No space is wasted in this room. There is enough visual and physical space between each element, and as a whole the rooms serves its purpose with personalized furnishings and accessories that do not distract the viewer's eyes. The flexible and creative skills of the designer let the gaudy gold mirror and the gold box on the table accommodate the French avant-garde Eyres sofa in this living room. The elegant dark colored classical but modern wallpaper behind the TV grounds the flamboyant look. When you look at every object, like the retro phone or the lamps, the space could well be a disastrous mix of kitschy items. However, with the skillful designer's touch, this space could become a complex work of art with a calming sensation of beauty.”
