| Functionality and Creative Elegance: Kinesis Chair and Ottoman Posted: 24 Jan 2011 07:12 AM PST Kinesis Chair & Ottoman were designed by David Moser and have a highly original appearance. But what is truly striking about these two furniture elements, is their ability to induce the feeling of complete comfort. Here is a description from the producers: Kinetic energy is produced from a body in motion. It's what happens when force is exerted on mass, as opposed to potential energy, when energy lies latent in mass. Kinesis Chair & Ottoman are evidence of what is possible when both potential and kinetic energy inhabit the same space: a carved piece of lounge furniture that distills everything we've learned about wood, ergonomics, and sculpture into an extraordinary work of art. Combining a fine-art cast bronze sculpture base with a hand-shaped, curved silhouette, this chair is art—albeit of the truly interactive variety. Check out the video below for more information about the “making of” process.

| Extensive and Luxurious Apartment Displaying the Inhabitant’s Love for Art Posted: 24 Jan 2011 05:48 AM PST The Russian Hill neighborhood, one of San Francisco’s original “Seven Hills”, is an urban community consisting of many young professionals who live their busy lives in this beautiful residential neighborhood. This is also the place where Zack|de Vito Architecture has finished redesigning the interiors of a beautiful high-rise apartment. Situated on the 19th floor of a residential building, the apartment measures 3,400 square feet, enough to be considered a luxurious retreat for the couple that inhabits it. The architects specially designed the apartment to elegantly display an art collection very dear to the two inhabitants. Another magnificent feature of the apartment that was fully explored by large windows is the incredible San Francisco Bay and downtown views. Here is how Zack|de Vito Architecture explains the work that went into creating a special place for the two art lovers: “Programmatically the main rooms were placed on the perimeter to access views and light while an inner “cube”, containing services and entertaining kitchen, anchors and connects the whole. Limited, yet repeating, materials and colors define and clarify spaces, while areas of poche act as containers for hidden storage and delineate transitions of spaces“.

| Cute and Comfortable Home by Ong & Ong Architects Posted: 24 Jan 2011 02:01 AM PST Ong & Ong Architects have created a cute and comfortable interior design in this residential building. Moderately large windows allow sunlight to flow and invade the classy, yet colourful interiors. Although the space seems to be a bit tight, the architects tried to use natural colours to improve the quality of living by opening up the interiors. The three-storey house features an attic converted into a guest bedroom, with a raised bed that takes advantage of the frisk air and refreshing view that can also be enjoyed from the balcony. Some other features of the home are described by Ong & Ong Architects: “The living area maximizes the light thru the full height glass windows and doors creating a light-feel space. This concept flows to the dining and kitchen area. A large island unit was designed to double up as a dining table while the built-in cabinetry provides plenty of storage, helping to eliminate clutter. The master bedroom sits quietly on the second storey. The master bathroom uses bold colours and materials to complement the cosy and warm feel of the bedroom. Rich colours fill the atmosphere on the third storey where the children room is located. Clever use of wallpaper and carpets with sharp colours brighten up the room.”
