Fresh Alternative to Urban Living: Lake LBJ Retreat by Dick Clark Architecture Posted: 31 Dec 2010 12:15 AM PST Lake LBJ Retreat was designed by Dick Clark Architecture and is located near Marble Falls, Texas, on a peninsula that used to be a private fish camp in the last decades of the 20th century. A peaceful and modern way to escape the racket of urban living, the residence is conveniently built in proximity to the water and makes the most of the surrounding views. Here is some information from the architects: “After spending some time in an existing house on the land our clients decided to create a new space that supported their evolving lifestyle. Wind patterns and the existing tree canopy were crucial influences on the project's design development. Exterior circulation paths and separate living spaces encourage a connection with the outdoors. Project materials include cast in place concrete, ipe siding and Rheinzink metal siding.” Be sure to take a close look at this home’s interior arrangements and enjoy the positive energy they inspire!

Cushions on a Pedestal Inspired by Oriental Traditions Posted: 30 Dec 2010 01:13 PM PST Cushions side by side, stories one after another. This is the motto for an original collection of upholstered furniture designed by Jehs-Laub for COR and entitled Jalis, which in translation means ‘hospitality and relaxed communication”. Designed in a highly contemporary spirit, the creative set takes fluffy giant pillows and places them where they belong: up on pedestals. Within the comfort of many cushions, one can only feel relaxed and protected. And what better environment for socializing than a cozy room filled with bouncy pillows located around a central table filled with hot coffee or tea? The set could fairly compete against a common sofa and is easy to integrate in any free-spirit modern living room. What do you think of this unusual communication delegate?- via DigsDigs

Cute Small Apartment on the Edge of Modern Style Posted: 30 Dec 2010 10:17 AM PST For those of you who like more a subtle interior design, this beautiful and cosy apartment foud at Stadshem will be eye candy. Once you walk in the door of a small hallway, a rustic feeling strikes. But once you get accommodated to the environment, the modern lines of the furniture and black defined mirror seem to shine through. The short and narrow hallway leads to the living room, where we find a relaxing design in tone with the peaceful living space. The living room is a little crowded, but the fluffy couch gives it the impression of a fun, inflatable space. The fuchsia and pink details soften the overall look of the room. Next, the kitchen: a beautiful space covered with dark tiles and contrasting with the bold white furniture. Another colourful rustic carpet brightens up the space, while a stripped window shade balances the use of powerful colours. A small dining corner joyfully recreates a modern version of the cottage family table. The bedroom seems a bit outdated, but the same rustic feeling covers the modern design. The bathroom is quite simple, it does not surprise the eye, but the rest of the house is a cute city dwelling.
