Turn of the Century Apartment with Fresh and Modern Interior Design Posted: 08 Dec 2010 02:26 AM PST For today we would like to showcase a beautiful and diverse apartment featuring North-European design influences. With a surface of 92 sq m, this charming loft has a total of 4 rooms, all with a contemporary and fresh feel. The living room is the heart of the apartment and hosts a delightful sofa with comfortable pillows, two armchairs which can be used as reading corners, a practical coffee table and plenty of shelves for storage. As a reminder of the building’s beginnings, this room is filled with space thanks to the generous ceiling height of over 3 meters. The living room opens towards a newly renovated kitchen, a place for those who like to cook and at the same time want to enjoy the company of friends. The three bedrooms are truly charming and each of them has a distinct personality. Check out the photos and get inspired!- via Alvhem

Luxurious Dining Table Easily Turns into a Poker Table Posted: 08 Dec 2010 01:27 AM PST Combining different features, the modern designers find new ways of usefully expressing themselves every day. More and more objects have double functions in order to cater to the clients ` needs. This is also true for the next luxurious dining table from Lee J Rowland: the Poker Dining Table. This black table easily transforms from a dining table into a gaming surface. A curvaceous vitreous enamel finish sparkles on the surface of the table, making it incredibly beautiful. Besides being a high-class dining/poker table, this piece of furniture can also be used as a business table. It has a high-end motor that rotates the playing/eating surface. Nothing is too luxurious for Rowland`s clients. The lifestyle of the rich and happy might just be less fun without the Poker Dining Table. Being a luxurious piece of furniture, the Poker Dining table is worth a little over $ 57.000.

Cool Rooftop Company Headquarters in Luxembourg Posted: 07 Dec 2010 11:59 PM PST "Roof top office" in Dudelange is a fascinating contemporary project from dagli + atélier d'architecture and is also the headquarters for a prestigious company in Luxembourg called Sanichaufer. The modern addition completes the existing building structure while creating an interesting contrast with the other homes in the neighborhood. Here is more form the architects: The combination of different forms takes place with the help of grayscale gradients. The form follows the shades and vice versa. A subtle game. The interior design picks up the subtle interaction between colors and forms. The new mocks the old, color mocks shapes, straight lines the curved ones. The walls and ceilings of the new areas are designed completely in white. The design intents to produce a bizarre empty space in which only the gradients generate forms and movement. We really liked this detailed description as we find it strangely similar to a contemporary art work review and we are certain that this is not just accidental.- via Arch Daily

How to Make Wall Art the Focal Point of your Room Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:46 PM PST Have you ever bought a piece of wall art and then realized it can't be appreciated in the room as you thought? Often time's wall art is purchased on its own, without regard to how it will look in the room, or how guests will enjoy it when they enter the space. Unusual Street Sign Furniture – Hot or Not? Posted: 07 Dec 2010 11:50 AM PST We came across an unusual collection of furniture. You know how every time you get out of the house, you encounter street signs at every corner. They are part of our daily life and the talented designer thought we can even bring these street signs inside. So he got to work, using stop signs, one way signs, crossing or yielding signs to build contemporary furniture. Designed by Texas based designer Tim Delger, this collection features furniture made from different street signs, all of them bend and resting on metal tube legs. On his site, the description for this art form contains only a few words:”Art/Furniture/Stolen government property built by Tim“. Clearly an artist, Tim Delger does not have a problem with creating diversity in his works. What do you think of the repurposing of the road signs? Are they artistic or just a waste of time?

Bright and Cool Home by Architect Bruce Bolander Posted: 07 Dec 2010 09:19 AM PST Californian architect Bruce Bolander has been designing residential and commercial buildings since 1995 from his office in Malibu. One of his creations, the Gartner Residence, lies on the banks of a river, beautifully expressing its shape at dusk. The residential design of this home captured us with its refined simplicity that adds a feeling of elegance to the street it is situated on. Huge windows allow a full view of the river and welcome sunshine indoors. The exterior design seems rather usual, but the interior features some pretty cool furniture and finishes. Take, for example, the black bookcase in the study: an amazing game of colour and darkness creates a great room for reading and relaxation. This house sits between two streets: on one side the main entrance, on the other- the garage. Bright and natural colours make the interiors have an elegant yet cool way of mixing. Also, a lot of glass was used when designing this home. A small courtyard accomplishes the need for fresh, clean air and offers the much needed connection to nature.
