Fantastic Design Idea for the Gourmands: City on a Plate Collection Posted: 25 Nov 2010 05:07 AM PST Tourism is a domain with more and more followers with each passing day. Here is a great design idea that should meet the needs of travelers everywhere. From NotNeutral, these stylish porcelain plates are gathered under the “City Plates” collection and feature maps of famous city centers. They have a diameter of 12", which is more than enough for a cool vivid map, perfect for analyzing during launch breaks. Their design is impeccable and the contrast between the black or white background and the strong colors is quite lovely. Rome, London, Tokyo, Mexico City, Cairo, Dubai, New Orleans are just some of the cities featured in this set. Aside for being a great addition in any kitchen and making meals more….consistent, the “City Plates” collection is also an inspiring gift idea. The price for these plates is 50$ for one piece and around 175$ for a pack of 4 plates. What do you think? Strange Angular Interior and Exterior Home Design in East Hollywood Posted: 25 Nov 2010 03:50 AM PST One of a kind houses are becoming more and more expressive and impressive. For example, this next home is an artistic version of a comfortable house, but it also has the feel of an extremely personalized architecture and exterior design. The Modernist House situated on Ledgewood Drive in the east Hollywood canyons is very different from other houses listed by Rose and Chang. It is a single family home, with a 2,490 square foot building site on a 7,650 sq foot lot. The bold modern residence features 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living and dining rooms, and a kitchen with pro-style appliances. Every corner of the house seems to have its own story to tell. A large open area lies at the base of the house, complete with huge windows that let the sun in and soften the walls painted in black. Bricks are combined with glass, wood and concrete to create a unique home with an unusual architecture. How Concrete Can Beautify your Home Posted: 25 Nov 2010 02:44 AM PST Years ago concrete was considered the utilitarian construction material for sidewalks, foundation walls and driveways. Today concrete comes in a variety of colors, applications and uses, and looks nothing like it did in years past. Creative applications of concrete can be used as your kitchen countertop to your bathtub material! Concrete can be formed into almost any shape and it relatively inexpensive to purchase, compared to stone and granite materials. Read on, I'll bet there are some uses of concrete you didn't even realize existed! Concrete floors: Flooring, especially in high traffic commercial applications is what most people associate concrete floors with. Residential concrete floors can be stained, sealed or painted any color in the rainbow to create the perfect color for your application.  Exposed concrete floors are common now in loft and urban homes and sealing the concrete with a clear finish makes concrete take on a beautiful and industrial appeal. Etched concrete flooring produces decorative engraving patterns for a not-so-usual concrete floor. Kitchen countertops: One of the gorgeous benefits of concrete is that it can be formed into almost any shape. With form work, concrete can making sweeping curves and angled cantilevers. Kitchen countertops are no exception to this design creativity.  Whether you like the simple lines of natural concrete or you prefer colored concrete, the choices are limitless. Concrete in the bathroom: Similar to the kitchen the bathroom has opportunities for high design or simple lines. Bathtubs that once use to only be made from cast iron, or porcelain, are now starting to use concrete for simplicity of form. Many bath and kitchen designers will have concrete designers they can recommend for ideas, including custom bathtubs! Exterior forms: The majority of ultra modern architecture homes use concrete to convey sharp angles, sweeping lines and massive forms. Concrete is one of the few building materials that can take on the changes in climatic changes beautifully. Concrete has been used in a multitude of innovative products like light emitting concrete. This concrete allows light and figures to be seen through the concrete! This type of concrete works well in homes that want to convey subtle design with light trickling through the 'porous' surface. Also would look great in hallways that share a space with an exterior wall. Concrete in your home can beautify your space with bold or subtle detailing. Start with the exterior of your home and move to the interior when thinking of options. Concrete is a material that should be thought through in detail because it can be commanding in presence. Elegant and Versatile Storage Console: The Parker by Jory Brigham Posted: 25 Nov 2010 01:03 AM PST This beautiful vintage looking furniture piece was created by Jory Brigham, a skillful woodworker and designer from California. The Parker is quite versatile and can be used as a bench, a coffee table and a storing unit. Built from wood, the console has a simple, classy and unique look. Even if the amount of storage space is not so abundant ( the dimensions of the product being 22”h x 84”L x 17”d), the overall shape of the Parker makes up for that by adding value to any room it is placed in. The console is enriched by a beautiful handcrafted fluted doors which hide the drawers. The customization options for this piece are various, which makes it an intriguing and elegant asset in any classic interior. Beautiful and Diverse Contemporary Architecture: The Cubo House in Juárez, Mexico Posted: 24 Nov 2010 07:21 AM PST Here is a home with an architecture that definitely stands out. The Cubo House comes from Arquitectura en Movimiento and is located in Juárez, Mexico. The exterior of this residence is truly unique and the beautiful and diverse sculptural facade couldn’t be more inviting. One of the main attractions of the U-shaped house is a fresh decorative fountain meant to add a natural feel to the modern building. We have to say we were a bit disappointed with how this home looks on the inside, mostly because we were expecting the indoor arrangements to connect and complete the exterior. The color palette consisting of gray, brown and white doesn’t leave much room for warmth or coziness. The overall feeling is that of coldness and soberness.
